Did you major in drama studies...or does this gift of yours come naturally?

Are you kidding? Monty teaches drama studies--he's the Drama Queen.

The left doesn't need ammo. They make stuff up. They have this pretend, faux outrage over everything.

This is silly. Tenet was there long than most directors and under the most stressful of circumstances. He wanted to leave before and the administration discouraged him. He was a Clinton appointee - why would that give the left ammo that he's leaving? It's not as though he was Bush's guy, even though I think he's been admirably loyal to the president.

That hand will NEVER be played!

It would be like a political nuclear bomb going off!

And counter strikes would soon follow!

Pandoras box to be sure!

Why on earth do you distrust Tenet.

There is EVERY indication that he did a great job for the President and the country.

There is NO indication, by his words or actions, that he will not support the President.

Zell Miller, for one, as well as a few other Democrats, have proven they can be trusted with America's future. Tenet did a very good and honorable job. I will believe he'll have a very good and honorable resignation.

I wish Bush could do something to keep big negative news stories from coming out. I know he can't, but it's so frustrating.

Great idea, Rudy is the man

Rudy would be fine, but I think he would make a better AG. Ashcroft will probably resign before or after the election. The AG job is a real pressure-cooker these days and he seems to be a lightning rod.

Wrong, the senate will screw with this until the cows come home. Bush has to show his face on the box and demand to the public that the senate must get off of their @ss and confirm immediately for the country's sake. If they do not move, hammer them.

You dont think Tenet was the Drunk that told Chabili about the US had broken Irans code? ..

No, but it could have been a CIA asset. Tenet would figure that to be a final straw. I think the man is fiercely loyal to President Bush and I think he would take anything that would further discredit the agency or President Bush's administration in a very personal way. I can hear him explaining what happened to President Bush, and I can hear President Bush trying to talk him out of it, but a man with that kind of pride and loyalty would feel tremendous guilt even though he, personally, had nothing to do with it.

Everyone goes on and on about him being a democrat, I think that has nothing to do with it, I think the man did a very good job with very limited resources (before Bush) and has helped this country as much as any man could. I'm sorry he's leaving, I only hope he does some house cleaning before he leaves.

I can't think of a CIA Director that has overseen more intelligence failures.

Somelthing tells me this has much more to do with the report coming from the 9/11 Commission and Chalabi than anything else.

Well, I'm not sure how much more clearly I can say that I don't care enough to argue the topic. That is my point.

Please note you will not be going about planting false assertions and expect not to be confronted about it.

That is intolerable behavior.

Disaster, schmaster. I just mentioned Tenet's resignation to two of my co-workers. They both responded similarly - Who's George Tenet?

I am curious about the timing, too. Maybe he did it on the eve of Bush leaving for Europe in order for it to be overshadowed by the President's trip. Maybe it has to do with Chalabi. Too soon to tell. Even though he may very well be leaving for personal reasons the pressure may just be too much.

My thoughts exactly. As a matter of fact, I would not be surprised to see Bush do two things:

1. Replace Tenet with Cheney. That equals hearings.

2. Replace Cheney with Rice. That equals both hearings and lots of buildup to the Republican National Convention.

This does two things for Bush:

1. Cheney moves to the relative obscurity of CIA Director. His political career is over. He'll still be a Principal and a major dispenser of patronage in town. Lots of angry TV hearings with Howling Mad Democrats like Kennedy or Schumer screaming "Halliburton" at the top of their lungs. Cheney, of course, will be able to bat each ball out of the park. Remember how he eviscerated Joe Lieberman.

2. Rice to the VP forces Kerry to play defense in the black base. This will get Rice a media storm as the Presidency comes within reach of black America for the first time. The Rice hearings for confirmation would force the Dems to play defense. It would also do something else:

The decision on who John Kerry's running mate would be would be made in the White House. If Rice is made VP, there is only one person in the Democratic Party that John Forbes can pick.

The Media will demand a Texas Steel Cage Death Match between Washington's two most powerful women. Kerry can't afford to give Hillary her shot, but he can't afford to anger Bubba, either.

As a side benefit, two big hearings, one involving a telegenic black woman, would make John Kerry's ship becalmed. As in, dead in the water. As in, no oxygen.

No one would care where Kerry stands on nuclear proliferation.

Bush can set this whole chain in motion by what he does next. Tenet has given him his dream shot.

Be Seeing You,

Chris
