you actually believe that Tenet woke up this morning, and after agreeing not to leave on previous occassions, he woke up and decided to leave today because of personal and financial reasons, 150 days before the election?

It would be much better if you tried to at least give the appearance of having the facts.

Tenet spoke with Bush last night and told him he wanted to leave.

And you obviously didn't see Bush this morning -- he didn't even have a prepared statement!

Not EVERYTHING is as sinister or as bad as you want it to be.

Pelosi now on saying " Tenet is not the sole reason for the intelligence failures" ....Bush is not going to use this to shut down our criticisms....

My god man! Read my comments, I have been warning that the media is our real enemy, since I joined FR.

It is my major soap-box issue.

It matters not what Bush says or does, they either report, or not report, at their will, they will report in context only under a Dem Pres.

They are in full campaign mode for Kerry, and Bush will be lucky to win.

MY point is, on THIS FORUM, which is read by those who wish us harm, and on a thread of news like this, we should be thinking and planning ways to fight.

Details emerged in April 1997 of one of the CIA’s greatest failures since its operations began. Up to 300 Iraqis died as the result of a failed attempt by the CIA to overthrow Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi leader. The CIA financed an Iraqi opposition group (the Iraqi National Accord) which killed 100 people in a bombing campaign against civilian targets in Baghdad and other cities, and fomented a military coup against the Iraqi leader. In June 1996 Saddam Hussein struck first, crushing the CIA-backed coup with ease; as many as 80 officers were executed or died under torture. In August Iraqi tanks also intervened in the Kurdish civil war, catching and killing 120 members of the CIA-backed dissident group. The débâcle led to the liquidation of the agency’s extensive operation in northern Iraq, and the then CIA director John Deutsch stepped down 1997.

I think it would be a stroke of genius.
Put Cheney at CIA...he's a natural.
And move Rice as the running mate for Bush in November.
Bush could announce Rice as he running mate at the GOP convention in NYC.

That would blow a hole as big as the Atlantic Ocean.
You have a conservative woman who just so happens to be black. She's attractive, clean as a whistle(absolutely no baggage) and sharp as a tack!

The public would love the move...especially the women's vote IMHO.

But, it will have ZERO effect on the election.

UNLESS (only unless) Tenet decides to strongly support President Bush's re-election.

Great. I will be delighted to sign this petition. Glad you brought it to my attention. Rick Rescorla was an incredible man.

He certainly didn't resign to bash the president, as you are alluding to.

It's been reported that he wanted to resign for some time but the administration talked him out of it.

It's an exhausting, demanding, 24/7 job and it's highly likely he resigned because he's exhausted and has had enough.

He's already stayed longer than most directors and most directors didn't serve under such stressful circumstances.

I consider it fact.

That says a lot about the content of your posts, doesn't it?

However, I am not passionate about it in such a way that I feel the need to argue about it.

You were passionate enough about it to state it as fact, but don't care to back it up?

As I said, you're part of the problem.

Unfortunately, that SPIRIT of a UNITED FRONT in the WOT, is a thing of the past.

It was always nonexistant. The RATs merely stopped attacking GWB's "legitimacy" for a couple months. That was it, the end of the 'honeymoon'. Bipartisanship means the GOP buys into RAT partisanship.

well do you believe one guy? Do people have huge confidence in their codes? What is the point of making up such a specific story, Raiding the offices of the guy you are paying 345,000 a month, you have backed publically, In order to make such a turnaround you have to have something REALLY BIG. Finding out the guy that you trusted has blown a huge operational hole in your organization would be that huge. A mistake on the level that would cost Tenet his job.

no disrespect intended, but its spin. I don't know the real reason he left, here is one theory already floating:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1146861/posts

its something more then personal and financial reasons.

I thought that when I watched him being questioned by the 911 commission, he seemed to point the finger at Gorelickers "wall" slightly. I am not so sure anyone else would have done much better with the restrictions in place by Gorelick, Reno, et al.

I got the impression he wanted to say A LOT more on the topic

I guess with him out .. he'll be free to say more

She wants Bush. They all do.

And yet we have people on this forum who are sitting home this fall.

Disgusting.

I have no idea what your #420 means since I am way back reading other responses on the thread, HOWEVER, I clearly am more well-versed in the yellowcake/Niger/Wilson/CIA/Tenet story than you are, so what's your point?

President Bush should hint that he might consider offering the job to John Kerry :-)
