The 10kg box containing the instrument used to perform industrial radiography on construction sites disappeared early on Saturday after a company driver parked a car carrying the cylinder outside his flat, the Shanghai Daily said.
When he returned, the canister clearly marked with a warning sign, was missing. Press reports said a two-day search in the city's northern Jingshan district were yet to yield results. Police were not available for comment. The company has offered a $1200 reward for information leading to the discovery of the hazardous material. "As a professional, he should have never left such equipment out of his sight on the street, let alone leaving it unattended," the Shanghai Daily quoted Lu Shuyu, a radiation expert, as saying of the driver. POLES ABDUCTED NEAR BAGHDAD

TWO Polish contractors and five aides were abducted today near Baghdad, before one of the Poles escaped, a spokesman for their company said.
They were abducted from their office around noon local time by people who drove up in Jeeps, Andrzej Polaczkiewicz, a spokesman for the Jedynka construction company told Polish television.
He said the other abductees were three Kurdish security guards and two technical employees.
One of the Polish men got away and reached coalition forces, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Strzelecki, the spokesman for the Polish-led multinational division in Iraq, said in a phone interview from Camp Babylon in Iraq.
"The man is in good condition. He suffered no injuries and he has gotten in touch with his family," he said.
A search is now under way for the second man, Strzelecki said.
Poland, a leading US ally in last year's war to oust Saddam Hussein, commands some 6200 troops from 17 nations in south-central Iraq and contributes some 2400 troops of its own.
The men were abducted in an area under American command.
There are very few Polish civilians remaining in Iraq, the Foreign Ministry said this week.

Recent observations in Wisconsin prompt the Highway ISAC to alert the sector in WI and surrounding states to be alert for suspicious activity on and Interstate Highways, especially around truckstops and rest areas. Observations of suspicious activity should be immediately reported to local police. Highway Watch participants should also report observations to the HWW Call Center on the discrete number provided.
In addition, the sector is asked to be on the lookout for two propane tank trucks which were stolen in San Antonio, Texas in recent days. The description of the vehicles, both owned by Ferrellgas, are as follows:
Vehicle #1. 2003 Kenworth T30, TX License:8WKW38, VIN: 2NKMHD7X14M056038, Ferrellgas Unit #112.
Vehicle #2.2004 Kenworth T30, TX License:7FFR20,VIN: 2NKMHD7X33M388431 Ferrellgas Unit #8889.
Sightings should be immediately reported to local police via 911. Highway Watch participants should also report observations to the HWW Call Center on the discrete number provided.
