First, ask yourself how many times over-studying numbers in the past has helped you. The number game, however fun, is quite meaningless.

Dear all4one-

Have there been any more incidents of unattended coolers being located in front of Philly hi-rises- removed by Fire Department? That was my direct observation several weeks ago.

Audio tapes with jihad messages have been found at the site of many previous Al Qaeda attacks. An audio tape was one of the first pieces of evidence that was found in Madrid to tie the bombings to Al Qaeda.

OK, so this one was found in front of Philly City Hall. Is there any way to know how far away the previous tapes were found from the attack sites? For example, was it found across the street? Around the corner? What else is near the City Hall if per chance City Hall is not the target?

Great suggestions on the key ring. If the items are laminated together though, would you be able to rip it open if needed? I also read about having a plastic baggie handy. It folds up small and can be used as a drinking vessel, among other things.

Welcome back.

Laminate it so that only three sides are sealed but the fourth side is not. It will be sealed tightly enough so the stuff inside doesn't fall out but you can use your finger to pry it open in an emergency.

Hi Jerseygirl :)

Here's the article from post #1156 - doesn't look good as an audio cassette was one of the pieces of evidence in Madrid...

Audio Cassette in Center City Triggers Terrorism Alert (Philadelphia - Wednesday June 2nd)

by KYW's Mike Dunn A bizarre finding in the shadow of Philadelphia City Hall on Wednesday morning has triggered an intense police investigation.

Around 8:15am, a patrol officer spotted an audio cassette taped to a utility pole outside the Masonic Temple at Juniper and Filbert Streets, across the street from City Hall and the Criminal Justice Center.

A Center City District street cleaner told the officer he had found and removed a similar cassette from another pole a short time earlier.

The tapes were enclosed in plastic sandwich bags and paper airplanes -- pointing to the tapes -- were taped alongside the cassette recordings.

The officer played one tape in his patrol car and says it contained "a Middle Eastern language." He immediately notified higher-ups.

The area was cordoned off. One official says it's likely that this will turn into a federal criminal investigation because of fears of a terrorism link. Link to Article

I don't understand why the tankers don't all have GPS to be able to track them?? Denver boots too, at least!

I'm sure it's a financial issue, all of this.

But think of the price we'll all have to pay for an attack...not to mention the costs that go into hunting for these when they're stolen.

There's a pic of the "paper airplane" at the link in #1195.

Does it look like an airplane or a broken arrow?

See last paragraph.......re: explosive ability.

But he added: “Because of the nature of the day, we are very, very concerned about the whereabouts of these two trucks.”

One of the tankers contained about 3,000 gallons of propane, while the other held 2,600 gallons, police said.

The trucks were taken from a depot owned by Ferrellgas and have the company logo on them.

A similar theft occurred about nine months ago and those trucks were never located.

Rather than being part of a terrorist conspiracy, the thefts may have been carried out to order for illegal fuel suppliers in Mexico.

A nationwide alert has been posted over the latest theft and law enforcement officials in Mexico also have been contacted.

Meanwhile, 15 gas canisters were stolen from an ambulance supply company in Texas at the weekend.

Police chief Ortiz said: “We think it is just a coincidence at this point.”

Five of the canisters were empty, but others contained nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and oxygen.

If the canisters were acquired by terrorists they could be used to make improvised explosive devices.

I am also going to start a truck thread on the alternate site.

I respectfully disagree. While many dates will certainly be red herrings and a stretch... many others have not been.

Me neither. Perhaps they have GPS but someone has disabled them or is somehow blocking the signal? Just a guess.

There's a posting on one of the jihadi boards this morning entitled "America: The disappearance of trucks laden with flammable gas". That didn't sound too good.

I started translating but realized it was a repost of a CNN article:

Texas, United States ( CNN ) - - The American Federal Bureau of Investigation issued several warnings to the United States after the theft of two trucks that were transferring thousands of gallons from the liquefied Propane gas.

We lived in Philly for a year and a half, up until the summer of 2001. It was my first introduction to "muslims", and it wasn't a good one, it was quite personal and nasty. These audio cassettes creep me out as well.

On the jihadi boards, when they post news articles, do they also comment on the story itself? As in, do they say "good, step one completed" or "praise be to allah"...

LOL? Sounds kooky, but I'm honestly wondering what their reaction is to some of these stories: missing fuel trucks, stolen gas cans, exploding acid bombs in mailboxes...

Re- City Hall.

The Philly Hotel in which some 69 people were sickened (last January) is only several blocks from City Hall. This illness cluster took place a day after President Bush had been at a meeting of Republican leaders at that same hotel.

Only a few people became ill while Bush was there. The group which followed the Republicans - (I think they were mortgage company employees from southern New Jersey-) suffered extreme gastrointestinal illness resulting in 69 emergency room hospitalizations. "Food poisoning" was suspected- but there was no followup on this story.

Places "of possible interest" near City Hall. (I've walked around this area extensively over the past year or so).

1 Liberty Plaza on Chestnut Street (beautiful building- contains various nice shops, Westin Hotel.) I think Liberty Plaza was on one of the AQ sites when they were listing cities and showing pictures of well-known towers and complexes.

2. Convention Center, Independence Hall, Liberty Bell. All easily walkable from City Hall. (Remember that AQ threat that "the Liberty Bell will melt?"

3. Market East- very large Mall- partially underground

4. Pennsylvania Station on Market Street (bus station).

5. City Hall has the central subway stop for the Market/Broad street line. (Recall the empty bottles in the Subway last summer, and- more recently- one of the stops being evacuated due to so-called cleaning materials spill?

These are some of the areas that come to mind- as being close to City Hall and either mentioned by AQ or hinted at (transportation, etc.)
