See last paragraph.......re: explosive ability.

But he added: “Because of the nature of the day, we are very, very concerned about the whereabouts of these two trucks.”

One of the tankers contained about 3,000 gallons of propane, while the other held 2,600 gallons, police said.

The trucks were taken from a depot owned by Ferrellgas and have the company logo on them.

A similar theft occurred about nine months ago and those trucks were never located.

Rather than being part of a terrorist conspiracy, the thefts may have been carried out to order for illegal fuel suppliers in Mexico.

A nationwide alert has been posted over the latest theft and law enforcement officials in Mexico also have been contacted.

Meanwhile, 15 gas canisters were stolen from an ambulance supply company in Texas at the weekend.

Police chief Ortiz said: “We think it is just a coincidence at this point.”

Five of the canisters were empty, but others contained nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide and oxygen.

If the canisters were acquired by terrorists they could be used to make improvised explosive devices.

I am also going to start a truck thread on the alternate site.
