To All:

I do not know the circumstances of what went down here today or why the thread is locked.

On my end, although well intentioned, I most likely should not have suggested to freely hit the abuse button? Maybe the excess, if anyone did this, I have no ide, was too much overload for the Mods. Recently, I would like to clarify I have only used it twice since all the drama began.

One to inform the Mods of thread nine
and once to inform them I would try to handle this by posting rules

There ya have it ;)

Saudi forces killed two gunmen in Ta'if
(Reuters) - June 2 2004 8:13

RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi forces have killed two gunmen during a shootout in the Western city of Ta'if just days after a suspected al Qaeda attack on an oil city in the kingdom, Al Arabiya TV says.

Al Arabiya quoted its correspondent in Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude exporter, and gave no further details regarding the shootout on Tuesday. Ta'if is close to the Muslim holy city of Mecca.

Philippines arrests suspected Al Qaeda operative
(Reuters) - June 2 2004 7:55

MANILA (Reuters) - Philippine immigration authorities have arrested an Arab missionary with suspected links to Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda terror network in the southern island of Mindanao, a senior military official says.

Major-General Emmanuel Teodosio, Marine Corps commandant, said the missionary, Hassan al-Bakre, 55, was caught by teams of immigration and security forces in Datu Piang town on suspicion that he was providing funds to local Muslim rebels.

"He is a suspected member of al-Qaeda," he told reporters in the southern port city of Zamboanga. "We will provide you with more details about the arrest after al-Bakre's initial debriefing is completed."

Teodosio said al-Bakre, who was placed under surveillance a month ago after arriving in Mindanao, was arrested on Tuesday afternoon in a village known as a stronghold of Muslim separatist rebels, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Bakre was the fifth foreign Muslim missionary to be arrested because of alleged links to international terrorist networks, al Qaeda or Jemaah Islamiah (JI).

Four Turkish missionaries at a state-funded Islamic school in nearby Cotabato City in the central Mindanao region were also arrested two months ago on similar suspicion.

Teodosio said they are still checking al-Bakre's links with a local Muslim militant group after he showed reporters a cache of improvised bombs seized from an Abu Sayyaf hideout in the southern island of Jolo.

He said the explosives may be used to blow up a Zamboanga City-bound passenger ferry. An Abu Sayyaf leader has said the group was responsible for planting a bomb in a ferry near Manila in February before it sank, killing more than 100 people.

Washington and Manila have branded Abu Sayyaf, the smallest of four groups seeking an Islamic state in the south of the largely Roman Catholic Philippines, as a terrorist organisation with links to both al Qaeda and Jemaah Islamiah (JI).

Last month, police uncovered a funding link between al Qaeda and Abu Sayyaf after the arrest of a 40-year-old Filipino studying Arabic in Saudi Arabia, who channelled $90,000 (49,000 pounds) to local Muslim militants for purchases of weapons and equipment.

First welcome 'out' and to TM Freedom! Second did you report this to anyone?I also had a weird experience the other day at 7-11.

There were two new guys working there. This is one thing we pay attention to here on TM. You would be hardpressed to know they were Arab. Another thing that makes our antennae go up.

One was about 6'6", very good looking, no accent.
The other about 6'3" OBL loolalike but in a baseball cap etc. They were flirting with two young women. I was back by the Slurpee machine. They began talking bad about the girls and how they could 'use' them. Then they began talking Arabic! A bit unsettling.

I know the two cities were referenced to the ME, but Jill, considering what has happened to one of our own here concerning MoM, could the twin cities also mean an attack here Minn/St.Paul?
