Please, if any of you fine folks in and around Nashville can make it, please counter these useful idiots,

Back in march, we ended up owning the coverage with our insight, and point of view, and we only had ten people!!!
I apologize again for the 11th hour heads up...
I recently started a new job, and have hardly been up for air lately...

I will support him here at home tonight! I did call the local RNC and told them to beware of all the crazy folks may be lurking!!

New Rome and I made it. I got there later around 5:30 and the opposite side of Hillsboro Road (east) had a nice gathering of pro-Bush families.

We were polite and the enemy was it's usual Woodstock-Never-Ended riffraff full of ignorant platitudes and junk.

The property owner on our corner would only let pro-Bush folks on her land....God bless her.

I live only about a half mile away and New Rome came by after we decamped for brew and to enlighten my wife and kids of "how it went".

A true gent and a delight to be around and listen to. One of our neighbors came over out back and let us know how much she loathed the protestors as well...which was nice, usually she is not so vocal (like us..lol)

Anyhow....glad to have been there. Wish I had the $$$ to see W up close and all but that's way outta my league.

Regards TN and Nashville....the unwashed were loud and boorish but there were a lot of pro-Bush decent folk around the area.....I would call it mostly hostile territory for MoveOn.org and ANSWER stooges.

(my phone camera would not work well)

*Now I know why I saw some SS burrheads in a Suburban scouting the place two weeks ago(???)

** my wife is still sqawking about the "President is eating dinner right less than 1000 yards from our house over that ridge"

(where he ate is the old Tyne Mansion ...founded in the late 1800s by local insurance magnate and called "Longleat"....pretty fancy digs)

Glad you made it.

I was "on duty" at the Loews Vanderbilt Hotel when Bush arrived at 3:00 pm.

I was in charge of enter/exit of the parking garage (all of us managers had posts).

I got to see Bush's caravan pull in and the Secret Service guy on my station took me down to the lower level and I got to see Bush get out of the SUV and go into the building! Fun!

About 5 large, black, SUV's were used. One had the flags of the President flying and one had two huge antennas in the back the size of large baseball bats. Obviously they are the communication folks and have direct sattellite access. Probably for the nuclear football and other encrypted transmission. That was followed by a fleet of white vans.

Then the press was released and they walked up to the lobby entrance.

All in all, it was smooth and fun. I directed traffic in and out of the parking garage after they were cleared and kept them from going into restricted areas.

Thanks.

It feels weird to think W was so close casually having dinner....if I'd only had a spare 25k to spare per plate...lol

damn, that's one year's tuition at a topnotch local prep (but not boarding) school ...for two.

I'm gonna need to work harder I can see that already..lol

I bet that had some serious surveillance teams on all those hills and knobs that surround that estate....lots of high points for bad guys with serious weaponry.

It was an interesting day in Nashville, Tennessee. While President Bush was here for a technology conference at Vanderbilt University and a $25,000 a plate Republican fundraiser local and Federal law enforcement descended on an American Airlines jet at Nashville International suspected of having explosive materials present. A bomb dog was guilty of having too fine a nose, signaling for a computer case that belonged to a farmer who had been handling fertilizer shortly before his flight. Fortunately the President was using an alternative airport on this trip.

A.N.S.W.E.R./MoveOn.org, members and their puppets were out in force. Around 100 protestors (200 according to them but I counted them myself) were watched closely by a dozen police personnel in cars and on foot, plus four on horseback (everybody dug the Tennessee Walking Horses). About half seemed familiar from the March 20th protest against U.S intervention in Iraq we Freeped downtown. The remainder was made up of scraggly ne’er-do-wells who seemed to be deeply into 1960’s hippie retro.

Also present were a few middle aged men who represented Veterans For Peace. They looked real nice standing next to Queers For Freedom, who were positively giddy going around accusing anyone with a flag of intolerance and bigotry. For a while all parties for and against were forced to share the same area (yes, they’re really much worse close up) until a very nice lady named Landy (?) Brown of SunTrust Bank allowed pro-Bush supporters to use her yard on the opposite side.

That good lady allowed us to assemble on her property because an especially obnoxious MoveOn guy purposely trespassed and shouted rants to his troops across the road from an amplified bullhorn after the police told him the area was off limits. He refused to desist and forced arrest and removal by putting up passive resistance. After he was taken away a halfhearted chant of “What’s the charge?” was attempted but quickly fizzled out due to the sheer stupidity of it. Those folks don’t seem to be the sharpest spoons in the drawer.

I was getting a bit bored until the mighty Wardaddy arrived and started twisting the useful idiots’ heads right off their pencil necks and caused attractive women to ovulate with a glance. Just kidding. He happens to live just down the road and couldn’t stand the thought of missing a good circus. I can’t say enough nice things about Wardaddy and his beautiful wife Sweet Virginia so will leave that up to him.

Though we were the only Free Republic members there about twelve unassociated Republicans and conservatives stood with us. One grand elderly fellow regaled us with horror stories about local politics while his granddaughters proudly put up with the heckling from across the street. We did our best to inform them about this website. By the end our small number were receiving more friendly honks and thumbs ups signs from passing drivers than the great unwashed on the other side. I’d say that’s mission accomplished.

I'm going to post this as a stand-alone article and will come back with the link. I know many of you were there in spirit and no one should feel bad for avoiding the hassle that always occurs when high-ranking officials visit. It was every bit as bad as you probably thought. It definitely reminded me that there's a war on.

Bet they did too and a very good thing they DID have anti-sniper snipers. :-)

My kiddo's boarding school fees are now about the same as Harvard charges and that's for ONE! I'm glad I'm no longer paying school fees and that she just celebrated her 4th. wedding anniversary!

So close and yet so far away.Oh well,it's really nice that you were so near him and supporting him. :-)
