It all started innocently enough. I received a call from a producer of a Viacom produced new show called “The Debate Show.” This was supposedly a six-part debate series on serious topics of the day including, Hollywood Obscenity (the show I was to appear on), NASA, Guns, Divorce, Obesity and Seniors’ Driving Licenses, to name a few topics I found on various websites seeking “regular” people to come on and debate from their point of view.
Considering that both MTV and Comedy Central have aired reasonably serious political content, e.g., The Jon Stewart Show, and Politically Incorrect, and that this is an election year, one felt safe to assume that, while conservatives who appeared would most likely be walking into a stacked deck of the Liberals’ poker hand, we’d get the chance to get our views across and we’re used to having panels stacked against us. We appreciated the opportunity to get a conservative point of view out at all to a younger audience.
They claim that they didn’t want professional pundits or experts. Well, no wonder. This show is NOT “The Debate Show,” as advertised and the name they use to procure panelists, but “Crossballs” a newly produced show for Comedy Central, owned by Viacom and MTV networks, and is a spoof of political debate shows that seeks to mock conservatives with actors posing as some of the panelists.

Aqua Teen is brilliant.
Anyone who's seen Chappelle take even bit parts in drek like Blue Streak and make it his own knew of his genius. He was great in his DC standup a few years ago.
I didn't know the depths of his creativity though, it's something else. With his black white supremist skit, his "white power" punctuation of rant segments was nuanced and it's what made that part of the skit. He showed a similar ability to impersonate Prince.
I heard an interview with Prince recently, and they discussed that skit.
Prince said that he actually had Chappelle come over to his house. AND that Charlie Murphy's account was indeed what really happened - even down to serving the pancakes. But it wasn't that Prince and the Revolution were that great at hoops, it's just that Charlie Murphy's crew were just plain bad on the court. LOL
But when Chappelle was hanging out thee, Prince walked in and said to him, "Want some pancakes, b**ch?"
Hell, I watch his show more than H&C.
I love Prince. He's always been a bit off, even prescient in figuring out the plot of Terminator 3 while stating his fear that the Internet could become self-aware one day. But I always liked the dude.
The Pancakes I figured had to be real. I mean, like Charlie said, how the hell can you make up something like that?
The thing was, he's been doing it on his own, from his own label, and doing all the production in his own private studio. He got sick of playing along with the whole corporate/MTV game, and how they were screwing him out of his royalties.
Have you heard any of his new stuff? Man, it is THE FUNK - pure, sweet FUNK.
I only heard some from two songs from his new album. I might buy it, it sounds pretty good.
I haven't loved everything he's done since his "Emancipation" triple album, which had some interesting experimentation(not all fruitful but one admires the attempt) and some of his best work. Particularly the song "Love We Make" which is a kind of Christian work, but very very strong. And some interesting stuff with "Curious Child" and his covers of some old songs, "Betcha By Golly Wow" and another one that escapes me.
But I admire the dude--learned to play 20+ instruments by ear, is a prolific artist and one that has not only instrumental and compositional and lyrical skill, but can sing in a variety of styles, especially with his incredible falsetto.
A student told me that Colin refuted one of Franken's points and left the windbag speechless. I didn't thing anything could shut that windbag's festering pie hole.
