Chris Matthews on MSNBC has no understanding. He is worried about our losing 50 troops a month.

Yes, that is bad, but Chris, we are in a major war.

[Chris is clueless as to what this war means and what it is going to take to win it.]

I'll take your word for it that it's huge new; frankly, I never expected anything less considering the UN's record in Iraq and the oil for food scandal (now there's a real scandal).

However, I think to the average person this is not big news. Most people don't even understand what the UN has done through the years, so taking power away from them doesn't resonate with them. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

It WILL be big news if the Kerry camp is shaken about it. LOL

I heard the President and I thought his speech was tight, in all ways. His voice sounded a little hoarse, though, like he has a cold.

Duncan called Biden a "Weeping Willi" as well ... which is rather funny considering the pre-speech interaction some here had with a nay-saying poster with the same name.

Joe Biden is still talking !!!!

The old windbag will be talking in his sleep tonight. LOL! They sure do hate it when President Bush talks because his approval rating always goes up. He reassures people that he's in control and that things are going to work out.

was hoping for some really big "new" news I guess

The news was that Dubya indeed has a specific 5-step plan much to the disappointment of those who are desperately trying to convince us otherwise. He also assured the Iraqi people that control of their country will come on schedule.

" Peter King thought it was very good and will go over well in the House."

Peter has become pretty stand up of late, especially on the WOT.
He used the line " crepehangars " to describe so many of those in Congress.
My mother used to say that all the time, when referring to the Bidens of the world. It goes back to the time when they used to hang black crepe around the doorways of homes, to signify that the family was in mourning.
Biden is the granddaddy of crepehangars,so is Lindsey Graham, Lugar, McCain and Hagel.
It seems that many of the girlymen in Congress, including many Republicans, have gone soft and needed the President to hold their hand.
These pansies give me a pain.Geez- It's not like we're making them do the fighting.

David Gergen as " leading Republicans? Huh? Wasn't he a "special advisor" to Clinton for a while?

While pretending to be a conservative republican, he didn't defend Bush 41 during his re election battle with Clinton, and then admitted later he voted for Bubba. He then was an adviser to him. A real mole!

That's because Chrissy spends to much time referring real life to what happens in the movies

"Nothing is ever enough for Fred Barnes. Haven't you recognized this refrain of his? "

If Pres. Bush included more details in his speech, it could have turned into a doozer. He included enough, but not too much, IMO.

Thanks, Wait4Truth:

I feel down in the dumps tonight - as if a personal friend of mine is under attack.

I think I will buy Bill Sammons book tomorrow -it sounds like it is the type of read that may help put things in perspective for those of us who believe in the President.

I support the President and I hate to see all the hate spewed in his face all the time. He is an honorable man.

I think Bush gets it. But this speech was just as much for the al-Jezzera audience as it was for Americans. It's hard to do a speech for both of them, but I think he did it.
