Saw him at Army/Navy in 2001 but certainly not close. I saw Clinton up close but was trying too hard not to scream obscenities at him to hear anything he had to say.

One of my great regrets is being too shortsighted in high school to see the Reagans off at Andrew AFB in 88. I can still picture myself telling my father no thanks, that I had something at school I needed to do...I blame youthful silliness but I still have the picture my father took of them from the tarmac.

They have so many naysayers fueling this..Lugar, Hagel, McCain, the dems...et al, Zinni is disgraceful in his accusations.

The aim to enable Iraqis to be frontline in their own security is the key..with us as backup. Have we made some mistakes? yes..Are they the whole story and will they prevent success? No.

I was listening to Rush the day he talked about that speech. Its inconceivable that a former president would actually say things like that in public. Sadly, we have two of them and they're both democrats.

Little Dickie toe sucker has this new really weird thing about "how" women think.

If Little Dickie really knew what woman think he wouldn't be stuck, sucking toes.

Conrad Crane was in the first row tonight, and was very enthusiastic about Bush and his speech. Almost would not let go of his hands when he was shaking them, and clapping as loud and long as anyone.

I have known Crane for many, many years. I find his reports very accurate. But he does believe the administration is by and large doing the right things with the exception of a couple of early mistakes. Of course, the press will take his commnets on those issues and twist it to make it sound like he is anti-Bush. He clearly is not!

H & C update: Richard Perle accused Zinni of being an anti-semite!!!!

Now Richard Holbrooke is dissing the speech. Every one of the 5 points is old news and a litany of past failures. Holbrooke, of course, is a Kerry supporter.

It was Bernstein who wrote the article but Woodward called the prison story "defining story". Holbrooke is calling the speech a litany of past failures. Hannity is all over him...

I've never seen a president "up close" unless you count the time we freeped slick in Seattle. And then I was holding a sign which said "Clinton pardoned terrorists" so I guess he wasn't much interested in stopping the limo to talk to me :-)

Lugar is smitten with the Vietnam War and World War 3, the Cold War. He's just too set in his ways to come to grips with another World War against an amorphous and dangerous opponent as embodied by the jihadists. He simply doesn't get it.

A nation can not establish diplomatic ties with terrorists. It's simply a matter of killing them when and where you can and making it difficult for them to set down roots.

That's it. Was there a FR link for comments, or has USAToday forbidden links and excerpts?

Thanks for the info. I've given up on O'Reilly, but sorry that I missed Kerrey stating that about Clinton and OBL. Wonder if it will make the final report and the liberal MSM?

What would have impressed or inspired you?

Dunno. Maybe I had a bad day. LOL Maybe it was his delivery......not enough emotion, maybe?

Thanks for the feedback.

I found it interesting that the AP put that piece on the wire just a few hours before the President is speaking .
