Hillary: I'll Support Pro-life McCain for VP
NewsMax.com ^ | 5/23/04 | Carl Limbacher and the NewsMax.com staff

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton said Sunday that she would support pro-life Republican Sen. John McCain if Sen. John Kerry tapped him as his running mate.

"I'm a big admirer of John McCain," Clinton told "Fox News Sunday." "I have the greatest respect for him."

While saying she accepts McCain's denials that he's not interested in the VP slot, Clinton added that a prospective Kerry decision to tap McCain for VP "is such a personal decision for him that I will support whoever he chooses."

"And if he picks John McCain?" asked FNS host Chris Wallace.

"Absolutely, I'll be there supporting whoever John Kerry decides to pick,' Clinton replied, insisting, "We have pro-life Democrats [in our party]."

The comments represent a 180 degree shift for the top Democrat, who is considered a pro-abortion icon. At the 1992 Democratic Party that nominated President Clinton, then-Pennsylvania Gov. Robert Casey was barred from speaking.

McCain has repeatedly cited the Democratic Party's committment to legalized abortion as a key reason why he wouldn't accept a Kerry VP invite.

On another topic, Sen. Clinton said she had no hard feelings against Republicans who turned her husband into the first elected U.S. president ever to be impeached, including her fellow Fox guest, Sen. Lindsey Graham, who was a House impeachment manager.

"You know, I believe in redemption and growth," she told Fox. "And, you know, people who were previously misguided can see the light."

Sen. Graham smiled but didn't challenge her assessment.

the base would force the GOP to kick McCain out of the party. I would constantly call my Senators Shelby and Sessions to kick out McCain if he runs with McCain.

"We have pro-life Democrats [in our party]."

they just can't actually VOTE that way, but we let them campaign that way (Landrieu, Reid, etc.)

deflection...deflection...deflection.

..Shrillary is taking-over in September, just as the CFR media guidelines measures take effect!...and the Media Liberals (Wash.DC's "Chattering-class") are sooo excited!

Note to Catholics:
Voting for a pro-abort just because his back-up is pro-life, is no excuse.

How do people rationalize support for abortion?
What part of taking an innocent human life do they believe is OK?

Yep, they're in the closet, but the party never lets them out in public!

What a harridan! She'd be thrilled to support John McCain for Veep because she knows it would be disastrous for Pres. Bush! As for his pro life views having any influence in a Kerry administration? Nah!

"I'm a big admirer of John McCain," [HILLARY!] Clinton told "Fox News Sunday." "I have the greatest respect for him."

Heaven above, if that isn't enough to move the voters in Arizona to get rid of this posturing, overinflated, bloviating fool, I don't know what would be.

No kidding! Hillary supporting McCain for VP better wake up some folks on here too that McCain is NO Republican. Speaker Hastert was right about McCain. Time for Senator Frist to tell McCain to either get on board the Bush train or get out of the Senate Republican Conference and give up the Commerce Chairmanship!

Time for Arizonan's to get back out their petition to remove McCain IMHO!

Well I know Inhofe and Sessions would support kicking him out. Sen Inhofe supported Pres Bush in the 2000 primary against McCain as he already had it with McCain and thought he was not the person to be President.

You can bet that the Senate Republicans WILL kick McCain out by the time Santorum and others get through with him.

"You know, I believe in redemption and growth," she told Fox. "And, you know, people who were previously misguided can see the light."

I know she meant this as a slap to Lindsey but the intelligent observer would think it more appropriate if she were referring to her husband (and herself).

There was a FReeper who was very active in that. Do you remember who that was?

Graham acted almost embarrassed about impeaching Bubba - disgusting! He knew he would be on with hitlery so he should have been prepared for her to attack him.

One other thing about this, you know, quote. Ever notice how often, you know, Hillary says, you know? Sheesh People tend to overly use that annoying two words when the don't know what their talking about, you know.

That is the person I had in mind -- cannot remember the name (was sitting here trying to remember) but he defended McCain every step of the way and was a thorn in our sides. He is the one respoonsible for you naming them McClones!

Sorry, I was unclear. What I meant was that there was an Arizona FReeper involved in trying to get the heck rid of that blowhard. Do you remember who that was? I think it was an active person, name I should know....

Frist, move this "McCains Mutiny" (am I the first to use that?) out of the senate office building. You need to strip all of his staff and office funding and move his office to the parking garage. Say it loud, say it proud, "You are with us or your against us! If you EVEN flirt with the other side your gone.

Dittomom, were you part of the effort to show the gasbag the door? Any chance of that reviving?
