EXECUTION: FOUR HELD |
|
Four people have been arrested over the beheading of American Nicholas Berg, Iraq sources say.The 26-year-old businessman's decapitated body was found 10 days ago in Baghdad.
His killing was shown around the world on the internet.
The poor quality website video showed Berg dressed in orange overalls kneeling on the floor with his hands tied back.
There were five masked men behind him. One read a statement urging Muslims to take revenge over the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by American soldiers.
The masked men then pushed the American contractor to the floor and shouted "God is greatest" above his screams.
His head was cut off with a knife and then held aloft.
The website said the execution was performed by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, a top ally of al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.
It is not known if he was among the four people arrested.

Baghdad - Four people have been arrested over the beheading of US businessman Nicholas Berg, whose decapitated body was found in Baghdad, senior Iraqi sources said on Tuesday.
Nicholas Berg's headless body was found May 9 in western Baghdad. Three days later, a videotape posted on an al-Qaeda-related website showed him being decapitated by hooded men.
Berg's captors said the killing was to avenge abuses of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison by US forces.

Humm, Sky News is a sister network of Fox, wonder why they aren't reporting on this. They've spent at least 20-25 minutes talking and interviewing people about the death of Tony Randall.

The problem is what you are looking at. It's not "this country". "This country", yours, mine, ours and that of every American is NOT CNN, not FOX, not the networks.
Toss the friggin TV out the window.

Fact is, in French the word "execution" is not restricted to legal execution after a death penalty. It's also used to describe the deliberate killing of an hostage. Many plaques commemorating imprisoned resistants or captured Allied troops use this word, and believe me it's in no way meant to tone down the fact these soldiers or freedom fighters were brutally murdered by their captors.

Good point and an even better question, Darlin'. As I'm cubicle bound by day, I suspect Fox News is more fluff that fact during that time. At least I get to see the heavy hitters on Brit's show when I arrive home each evening.

I don't know. This is as far as I can gather, still a one source story.
It's from AFP, and everyone else is just using this source.
Perhaps they don't think a single source story citing anonynous Iraqu officials is solid enough?
I don't have Fox, so I don't know the standards they tend to follow.

This country's priorities are so screwed up it isn't even humorous anymore. That's why we are at this point right now. Our priorities today are, gay marriage, smoking, movies, sports, and the latest reality shows, when in fact the reality is that we have people that want to kill us and a governmnet that doesn't give a rats ass about ILLEGALS crossing our borders.
Amazing isn't it?

Not a word. Gent in office next to me is listening to Neal Boortz - Boortz is stating this is an unconfirmed rumor. Hmmm.

Neal Boortz just said that he has contacted several news organizations and none of them are reporting the capture.
He is skeptical that the story is true.
FYI
