I will never cower before any master nor bend to any threat"

I agree different factions of a global movement (like worldwide communism before it began to fray and fracture in the 1950s and 1960s) may be in competition with each other (as in any organization, however loosely affiliated the parts might be, people at the top jockey for leadership).
But the words and target of the message were not what I would have expected if the idea is solely to produce a mass psychological effect through the gruesomeness of the means of execution. Would have been more framed at recruits. I am sure it didn't hurt recruitment, but it didn't seem that was the main purpose.
Zarqawi exposed himself deliberately by placing himself at a certain place and time. Different than an audio or videotape because you don't dump a body. And he is careful, so he knew. He managed to evade capture with the Marines surrounding Fallujah. What it reveals about his state of mind is that he either feels he (and his cell(s))is holding an extraordinarily weak hand (and he is coming unglued with rage), or he feels he is holding a uniquely strong hand. It was not a usual terrorist message to be sure.
Zarqawi is a mid-level leader making a play at being top dog, but he is not the ultimate threat. This is, as it has been from the start, state directed.
Work is good.
EOM, eh?
I can't wait until we catch this scumsucker.
You can say that again. I wonder if there's any overstepping boundaries where terrorists are concerned? Do Osama and Zawahiri mind being overshadowed by Zarqawi's leadership ascent? I hope so. Wouldn't it be great if they could be turned against each other simply by repeating that one leader has usurped the other....
Yeah, yeah, I know.....I'm dreaming again!
Great Find NW_AZ! You are really amazing with the stuff you find in google! This site is great!
>>>>No 9-11, møøselimbs stay under the radar long enough to develop WMDs, and then kill or convert the rest of the world.
Not sure I understand N&V. Could you restate?
I think some of the seven were on a BOLO released around Christmas of 2002. Not Christmas 2003. It wouldn't be on these threads as they started Nov 2003.
It has been confirmed since I posted that all but Gadahn are recycled. I was mainly trying to make sure my mind wasn't playing tricks on me.
It seems that, except for maybe Shukhrijumah and the East Africans, they are fixers and facilitators. They would be peripheral and not central to an operation. It means that by slapping up the same names they released on national TV a year and a half ago, they seem to have little new to go on. No new pictures of major players seems to mean we still haven't connected the dots. That is probably why we aren't at orange just yet. If they get some better info on who the actual members of a cell might be, (as a result of the national warning they might get a tip on when, where, or how - - there was value even in posting old faces), then they might have enough to put us at orange today or tomorrow. If not, we have to just brace ourselves and let the media coverage be the alert because we cannot do the yellow-orange-yellow-orange "yo-yo" routine all summer with all the potential targets of opportunity. After the second or third orange alert (by the Fourth of July we will be at the third major target of at least 7-10 between now and the election), no one will be paying attention, so even CNN/Fox/MSNBC will be cutting away after 5 minutes to cover other news (notice none of the majors decided to pick up the news conference yesterday).
All they seem to know is that "they're here". But despite the seven pictures, they don't seem to know who "they" are.
What a great find!
We've all talked about this before on this thread as well! Who knew it's already been tried and proven?

PLEASANTVILLE, N.J. -- Law enforcement officers reportedly found live grenades, canisters filled with gasoline and other items in the trunk of a car driven by a man wanted in a fraud investigation.
Pleasantville police confirmed that the man, whose name was not disclosed, was being questioned Tuesday night, but would not provide further details.
Details about the fraud investigation also were not available.
WCAU-TV in Philadelphia reported the man had several forms of identification with different names and that FBI agents were also questioning him.
Yes, but my point was we should include jewish holidays in dates of interest.
I think this guy was up to no good!
ROFL! Sorry, I'm in such a silly mood today. One of these days, I hope to actually sleep and feel rested.
In all seriousness....
Prayers and deep gratitude for all our law enforcement personnel. They never get the kudos for these types of arrests, but when the attack happens......they'll be criticised to heck and back.

Saudi Qaida Leader Calls for Guerrilla Warfare
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (BGNES)- A top al Qaida leader in Saudi Arabia called on Thursday for an urban guerrilla war in the kingdom, hit by a recent spate of militant attacks on Western and security targets.
The Arabic-language statement, posted on several Islamist Web sites and purportedly from Abdulaziz al-Muqrin, gave a detailed list of steps militants should take to succeed in their violent campaign against the Saudi royal family.

I remember that story, but I didn't know the details. Really heartwrenching.

Here's a small amount of information on 2 of the 7. Corresponding pics at the link:

Jdey was last seen in Montreal in November 2001, just a few months after he obtained a replacement passport. He appears in a "martyrdom" video seized in Afghanistan, and U.S. officials say a suicide letter was also recovered from his home in August 1999.
El-Maati, meanwhile, is a licensed pilot. The Canadian Press reports he is an acquaintance of Maher Arar, the Canadian detained by the U.S. and deported to Syria, though his lawyer says there "has never been a suggestion of any connection between Mr. Arar and Amer," according to The Globe and Mail.(snip)
