Jdey was last seen in Montreal in November 2001, just a few months after he obtained a replacement passport. He appears in a "martyrdom" video seized in Afghanistan, and U.S. officials say a suicide letter was also recovered from his home in August 1999.
El-Maati, meanwhile, is a licensed pilot. The Canadian Press reports he is an acquaintance of Maher Arar, the Canadian detained by the U.S. and deported to Syria, though his lawyer says there "has never been a suggestion of any connection between Mr. Arar and Amer," according to The Globe and Mail.(snip)

Isn't Shukhrijuma a pilot as well?
Either we are on the right track (AQ is persistent and goes with what works) Or we are off base (fighting the last war). With all the flight cancellations around the beginning of the year, I assume it is the former rather than the latter.
