I was just thinking further about why those firefighters and emergency vehicles may have been all around Penn Station this morning. Perhaps it was precautionary. Waiting to see if the Amtrak Acela out of DC and the Philadelphia Clocker arrived without incident since those same trains were searched yesterday. I'll have to check out the security this evening. All of the regular Northeast corrider Amtrak trains depart Penn Sta. between 5:00 and 6:30 pm

According to Bruce Anderson, who does the news on WABC Radio during the Curtis & Kuby Show, Police, Fire, and EMT's converged on Penn Station because of a noxious odor that had sickened several people. The source of the odor was some sort of cleaning solution.

FBI: Look Out for Hidden Bombers

The bulletin, which was issued to 18,000 law enforcement agencies nationwide, comes as there are increased fears about a variety of threats.

The discovery last week of a concealed infrared electronic device on train tracks near Philadelphia sparked investigations and renewed concern for rail safety in the northeast corridor.

A sign of the added security and worry is that two of Amtrak's Washington bound Acela high speed trains were stopped Thursday night and searched by Amtrak police officers and canines. The trains were delayed for 40 minutes, but there is no word yet specifically on why they were stopped.

Trucks coming into New York City are also being scrutinized as there is a continuing concern about high profile targets there.

Yes, the crescent moon is waxing, or getting larger, will be in the west, immediately after sundown. the lit portion will be on the bottom (earth or horizon facing side).

John Gambling was saying on the radio this morning that "I talked to some people who told me I was nuts for continuing to come to work in this building". WABC radio NYC is at 2 Penn Plaza, right above the station.

That's about how I feel.

Most folks have no idea what is really going on. I mention some of the threats we discuss here to others and they have no idea that all this is going on. Most take what I say seriously, some just dismiss it, to their own peril.

I won't specify what is going on, on an open forum, but there is definitely some new work going on around the WH -- in line with defense.
