Boycott Brad Pitt In the movie "Troy"!
May 14, 2004 | John Arcari (JLAGray Fox)

Posted on 05/14/2004 5:55:00 AM PDT by JLAGRAYFOX

Please boycott the movie "Troy: that releases today. Brad Pitt, a rabid Bush hater and support of "Traitor" Democrat John Kerry needs to take a beating in this movie. If the movie does not do well at the box office Pitt is toast as an actor!

You are probably correct, but who cares. Just helping one little bit to sink this traitor and his wife make me feel good. Evidently, for whatever the reason, the Film "Troy" opened on Friday with $17M gross. The prediction from the "BoxOffice.com" web site, which is extremely reliable, was $58M for the weekend. With only bringing in $17M on its opening day, this movie is not even going to come close to capturing its $250M cost, let alone make any profit. I know. I am a movie buff and track these costs and positions all the time. Little Brad is toast! Mr. Pitt has failed miserably, and some of you have helped him along, even if it is just a tiny bit. Remember, a journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step. Good show!

#120...I appreciate what you do here at FR, rintense--(with the Daily Dose!....very much...

...but this is where we differ.

I exceedingly have a problem with male actors kissing male actors, or female actors kissing female actors.

Honestly, I think someone who is secure in their sexuality would have no problem with it. Of course, I also think Hugh should be kissing me, so... ;)

I watched Mancow on Fox & friends talk about this movie and he said that it is a film for homosexual males and not to go see it.

That was good enough for me. I won't even rent it on video now.

i've only seen one Brad Pitt movie at the theatre (Sleepers?)... and i caught one on video (that someone else rented--Meet Joe Black) and part of one on television--Legend of the Fall or something like that...

don't see the big deal about Brad "smelly arm" Pitt... that's what we call him...

I agree with your stand on the boycott issue. I have a difficult time suspending disbelief (too grounded in reality, perhaps?) when I know the actor -- playing the character I'm watching -- has made statements mocking things I hold dear.

Many of the actors I used to enjoy became annoying to me once I heard them "discussing issues." The fact is, I don't care about their personal politics . I don't care if they vote democrat from now until doomsday. But hearing statements such as, "Bush is a f*cking idiot," and "We're sorry Bush is from Texas" detracts from the pleasure I get from their work. It's like finding out the "solid gold" ring your boyfriend gave you is from a Crackerjack box. The ring hasn't changed, but it's attractiveness is diminished somehow.

If I could learn to suspend disbelief well enough to believe 14K rings come with popcorn and peanuts, I could probably enjoy Brad Pitt. But I can't. So I find it easier to ignore actors, singers, and comedians who have made statements with which I disagree.

Pitt is a puke - boycotting one of his pictures will be a pleasure!

If I boycott every TV show or movie because I don't like someone's politics, I wouldn't be left with much entertainment. That might be a good idea! HA! Neverthless, I probably won't see the move because Pitt does such a bad accent.

I am very secure and I have a problem with it blatantly being expressed all over the media, from soap operas, sitcoms, newsprint, movies....

...our children don't need this lowest of standards as their example!

Troy? the third Hollywood remake of a Cliff notes book?

I guess original ideas are wanning, much like Brad Pitt's career!

Pitt and Jen taunted the one Bush girl who had been caught drinking under the legal age. When they saw her they razed her saying something to the effect of "hey, you goin' out back to sneak a beer?"

Heck, I'd do that, too. Nothing like public humiliation to shame one into proper behavior :)

I'm with you. He hasn't moved me in any way since Legends of the Fall either and even then the cast around him helped make things happen to keep you watching.

Troy does not interest me in the least.

Nah, that's just because he played Peter Allen in a Broadway play. He's 100%, all man- and happily married to an older woman!

Older woman, adopted kids.....hmmm... not saying that this means everything but it is fodder for the gossip mill.

Like John Travolta dating a 30-something woman when he was about 20 and the hottest thing since sliced bread.

I liked him in *Kate and Leopold*. Hated Meg Ryan as Kate. I read somewhere that the script writer had Sandra Bullock in mind when it was written. I can see Sandra in the role but not Meg. I thought she was just all wrong.

I'm a bit of a mythos buff, so I already know how it ends

There are no gods in this version. Imagine -- the Illiad with no gods. Kinda messes up the "myth" thing, huh?

Van Helsing

My teenaged daughters thought it was fun and campy. Style over substance is how they described it, but fun nonetheless.

To: SoCal Pubbie; Gypssy I don't know where the comment "the gods are left out" started. There's numerous references to the gods, what happens after death, temple shots and the like.
