As a Muslim, i strongly condemn the beheading of Nick Berg

As an American [applied for citizenship here from Iran since 1999], and a Muslim i would like to strongly condemn the brutal beheading of a fellow American in the hands of Barbarians.

I also, condemn Islamic terrorism across the world and join millions of others in Iran and i'm sure other places across the middle east in condemning these horrible acts.

I moved here in 2000, i was a part of the student uprisings in 1999 in Iran. The very thing that the US is fighting right now in the middle east, are what students in Iran are fighting.

There is no difference between their fight and ours, nor the fight across the middle east between the modernized - moderate form of islam and the radical form.

Unfortunately, moderates have been unwilling to take arms or act aggressively against radical islam and when we have we've been condemned for human rights abuses.

That's all.. after reading some of the posts on here i just wanted to say i'm Muslim and i condemn these acts.

How does a "moderate" Muslim reconcile his faith with the evidence that Mohamed, despite his visions, performed evil acts in the name of Islam? Do you also condemn those acts of evil?

I think you understand the muslim poster's meaning by "I'll meet you in the parking lot". In a war between America and islam he chooses islam. Take it for what it is.

The majority of American Muslims are not affiliated with a mosque and many fled to the US in order to live a normal life (Iranians particularly). What I am concerned about is that if push comes to pull, most American Muslims, even non-religious ones, will side with their fellow Muslims in a showdown between the US and a Muslim country. I am not even criticizing them -- they are sticking with those they consider their own kind. Infidels are not their kind.

I'd like to believe you. However, your holy book says it is okay to lie to non-muslims, especially if it is to further the goal of jihad. Given that your holy book encourages lying, we must, unfortunately, but necessarily, take what you say with a ton of salt. Words now ring hollow. Actions tell a clearer story. When Muslims such as yourself support your words with concrete actions, then we will start to believe you. Sorry, but we've read your book, too, and we know what it says, and what its adherents take to heart.

Human nature has not changed in those 400 years. We're all capable of that kind of savagery if we rationalize it enough.

You want a more modern example? Witness the behavior of the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS in Poland, the Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia.

Me too. My heart was broken, but when I read some of what people were saying, I could also see the faces of people I know that are also innocent, who were put into the category of these monsters simply because of their religion, and in my heart I know that's wrong.

enjoyed your comments..again, like you, I don't want to enter into a lenghty discussion of assimilation now, though it might be a fun subject for a separate thread....I raised the question from two points..first, the radicals in are midst more than likely come from isolated, segregated, old-world style enclaves...There are neighborhoods in NYC where you cannot find a storefront in English...and as a kid in the 50's learning in what was then called "social Studies" about immigration, the "melting pot" and "assimiliation"..it's remarkable how these concepts have vanished completely..
