Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.
He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.
The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.
He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"
The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.
Call CBS Evening News and let your voice be heard!

I SO wish I had heard Chris Core tonight, to hear what you report he said. Most nights, after listening to the end of Hannity's show, when Core comes on, I start yelling at the radio, and usually wind up slamming in a music cassette in order to preserve my sanity.
I will, however, even at this late date, email CBS news, and will call the station tomorrow. I never, ever watch Rather - I don't want to have to take blood pressure medicine, just to survive watching his show but I will call/write and say that it's only right, after showing the supposed "atrocities" (can you say 'frat pranks'?) by our soldiers in Abu Ghraib prison, cell blocks 1 & 2, it is CBS's obligation and duty to show the beheading video of Nick Berg - to inflame Americans, the same way they have inflamed Iraqi's and Islamofascists.
I received an email today with the video of the "Have you forgotten" scenes in it - and NO, I have not forgotten. I lost 22 friends from my home town in NY in the WTC, and 9 from the IP in the Pentagon, including Angie Houtz who I also knew from Church.
As I was putting a new flag on my van over the weekend, I was thinking about how few flags I see on vehicles any more, and how few flags I see in front of houses. Then as I drove out of my driveway, my next door neighbors had put out a brand new flagpole and flag. I'm happy to report that in this part of Fairfax, VA, we have NOT forgotten.
NEVER FORGET

bump for freeping. Thanks. I have been e-mailing them all before this happened. I told them someone was going to get killed if they didn't stop plastering those pictures all over the news every day.

They need to show this video to everyone of our servicemen in Iraq. Don't you worry, they'll see it. The video has propagated from one end of the earth to the other in the last 6-8 hours. This wonderful invention of Owl Bore's DOES make Old Media irrelevant.

I wholheartedly agree.
Let's show the plane slamming into the second WTC tower.
Show the people running from the falling building.
Show the people at the windows, where we think they are thinking about jumping - a concept I find so horrific, I tear up even at the thought of it.
Show the firemen, policemen and EMT's bringing out bodies of their own, who ran INTO the burning buildings to rescue people, just as the towers were crashing to the ground.
We all need to remember who started this war and why we need to stay in and not falter or fail.
Thank God for Pres. Bush and his understandng of terrorism and why we need to take the war to THEM to keep it from showing up over HERE again.
Only one person during the Senator Armed Services fiasco "grilling" today, ONE Senator mentioned how the Military was decimated during the 90's and how for the entire period of the 90's everything that was done to us overseas was not responded to because the occupant of the White House was too busy with personal affairs. I stood up and cheered and yet can't remember who said it.
"Personal affairs" Says it all, doesn't it?
I long for the day when Slick Willy is in jail.

but am wondering if, at some point, our country needs to be shocked back into reality concerning this war....
Some event will eventually accomplish this sudden comprehension that our civilization is at stake here...I'm reluctant to say that we "need" such a shock -- but I agree that such an event would reinvigorate support for our anti-terrorist efforts. And while I don't think it necessary that such an incident be of the same magnitude as 9/11, I also agree that it would be more unifying if it occurred on American soil. As horrific as this beheading was, it doesn't have the same impact on public opinion since it occurred in Iraq and not here. Even though the atrocity was committed against an American, I think the "shock" of broadcasting the video would only fuel sentiment to pull out.

From another thread... I don't know which one, and the poster stated he/she had gotten it from yet ANOTHER thread. (got that?)

Sorry, no can do. I'm not going to contact CBS and go against the wishes of the victim's family, who didn't want the world to see it in the first place. CBS is biased, thats a given, but there is a simple thing called respect, and I wish to respect the wishes of Nick Berg's family by not allowing their son to be used as some TV spectacle. This goes beyond the bounds of decency in and of itself. Seeing this video serves no purpose. Frankly, I saw the video online, and I can say without a doubt, this is the first thing that frightened the living **** outta me.

I already posted my CBS phone call. In my email I told them if CBS had any journalistic integrity they would run the video of Nick Berg's murder with the same digital fig leaves they used on the Iraqi prisoner photos and just as often.

Hummmmmmmmmmmmbeeeee, why does this kind of stuff keep coming up.
No personal attacks, please. We are all in this together and you know it. I don't care who the person or persons are that alert us to these things.
It's the fact that someone took the time to do it, isn't it?
I am so sick of all the pettiness and attempts at oneupmanship that go on. It childish and uncalled for.
Okay, now I'm "ranted" out. phewwwwwwwwww

Yes, I watched the CBS Evening News on tuesday night (central time zone). The execution led the broadcast.
I can only paraphrase, but Rather pretty much prefaced the broadcast with "We must warn you that what you will see and hear tonight are very graphic, so you may want children to leave the room now."
CBS showed a prolonged, but of course incomplete version of the execution. The execution video aired by CBS shows the raghead reading and finishing his speech, afterwhich he hands his script over to the idiot standing next to him and swiftly produces a two foot (approx.) knife out of his shirt while grabbing the hostage's hair. The raghead (a right-hander) then forces the hostage from his sitting position to the laying-down-sideways position while placing the knife to his throat.
The video image pauses when the hostage is inches above the ground but before the sawing begins. CBS let the audio briefly continue so I could hear shouts of "Alluhar Akbar!," but no screams. Then it stops. Back in the studio, Rather says something like, "His head was then held up to the camera, and his eyes were open."
In due fairness to CBS, all night FOX News (which was way below standard on tuesday) and other cable networks terminated the video at the point where the raghead produces the knife. That seems to be the media standard on this atrocity. CBS exceeded that "taste standard" by showing the hostage thrust to the floor with the knife at his throat. You can see the baffled and terrified look on his face.
And that's the truth. I don't intend to view the full tape.
Note to FOX News - The next time you break from a riveting live report from Iraq showing a Marine tank smashing into a mosque compound (read: exploding munitions dump) in order to broadcast a live Kobe Bryant hearing, you've lost me. "Excuse me Jim, we have to go to Eagle Pass Colorado..." ugh.
To: All
The slaughtering of Nick Berg is one small step for terrorists and a major leap for the Wests encounter with Jihadism. The videotape, posted on the Ansar web site, was one of many horrifying acts perpetrated by the followers of Osama bin Laden. It ended up becoming a shameful benchmark in the Wests liberal media reporting.
