Kristinn just called me and asked me to post this thread.
He just called CBS Evening News and asked them if they were going to show the militant Islamists' video of the beheading of American Nick Berg.
The woman who answered the phone said that they were going to do a story on it, but they were NOT going to show the full video.
He asked them, "Why not, since you had no problem showing the pictures of the Iraqis being abused by our guys in the prison. Don't you think turnabout is fair play?"
The woman got mad and said, "Thank you for your comment." and then hung up the phone.
Call CBS Evening News and let your voice be heard!

I would also hope that, as a conservative, you would understand how airing the video of the beheading is "over-the-top" for American television. It is sufficient that the American people are aware of this horrific incindent, and it serves no valid purpose to broadcast the gory details. For that reason, I will not be contacting CBS as you request. I would consider such a broadcast to be in extremely poor taste and unnecessarily inconsiderate of the victim's friends, family and loved ones. I agree - I also wouldn't want small children who happened to be in the room or turn on the television to inadvertently see such a disturbing video.
I do applaud the effort to show CBS's hypocrisy, and I feel that this atrocity (and Daniel Perle's murder, etc.) makes what went on at the prison look like a frat initiation, but I really don't want that video shown.

All of the buttons work on the CBS News (.com) site with the exception of the 'contact us!'

I called and spoke with Tanisha (sp). I questioned why they aired the prison photos, blurring offensive images, but not the Berg video in a similar manner, stressing that Berg's audio was important to the story. She responded that FCC regulations ... yada, yada, yada. I asked her what the FCC regulations were for airing the audio. Too numerous to mention, call them, I have other calls, she replied. "You don't have any idea what the FCC regulates, do you?", I questioned. "You're just some poor flunky put in charge of answering phones."
She hung up.

I think your insistance on equating the two incidents is misguided and plays into the hand of the anti-war Islamo-sympathizers. Do you really not get it Willie? The terrorists did the equating. Explicitly saying they did this because of the prisoner "abuse" incident.
Just like when Saddam said he "supported Al Queada" was proof enough for me that he actually did support them. We never needed to "find" the proof, he claimed he supported them right up front.
These islamists think that parading a naked muslim around is equivalent to beheading an American. How can you possibly disagree with them?

I talked to Allison, who said they would lead with the story, but not show the video, "it compromises journalistic integrity". What journalistic integrity...that it conflicts with their view of the US as the bad guy? Is it because they would be inconsistent in their blathering if they were to balance the story?

"There was no way to be certain the tape was authentic. "
yeah, no way unless you WATCHED IT!
I understand the concerns that the family will feel bad seeing this on t.v. I am very sorry for their loss and will continue praying for them and of course for this poor man who died in such horrendous circumstances.
Interestingly, wasn't that the big concern so many of us had about the *ahem* "atrocities" inflicted on Iraqi prisoners--that their families would run out and become suicide bombers?
Odd, how the Nick Berg's family chooses to lash out at the Bush administration--the opposite reaction we expected of Iraqi families.
I suppose that is a good thing, in the long run. I can't explain it here, but let me just say I hope and believe that ultimately, Jesus Christ's message of "turn the other cheek" and "love thine enemy" will become reality here on Earth. Both for us, and for our enemies.
However, I think it will take a very long time.

As deplorable as the prisoner maltreatment scandal is, those acts to not rise to the level of atrocity committed by the terrorists with this beheading. Go talk to the democrats ... The terrorists seem to like to quote THEIR words

CBS is responsible. Hackworth is responsible. Sorry, Nick.

Remember this islamic peaceful picture? These people are subhuman blood drinking scum that deserve to be obliterated. The best thing to do is nuke their capitals and convert the survivors into christians. Only as long as christians are in power we will never do that. So islam better pray that the rapture does not happen soon and remove all the true christians that love their enemies and than leave all the pissed of heathens in control of our military might.

And the levity has nothing to do with the beheading, but with your indifference to anything but your pet issues. If I was "indifferent" to this issue, I wouldn't be participating on this thread, would I???
No need to answer, you've already made it glaringly apparent that you never miss an opportunity to launch a hateful personal attack. It actually reveals quite a bit about your own lack of character. And you can squawk about that all you want -- I made the point regarding the topic of this thread that I intended to make. I'm not here to entertain your adolescent flames.

My e-mail stated that I expected the same news treatment militant Islamists' beheading of of Nick Berg as the "Rodney King beating"
I'm really considering putting together some stage blood and distributing it freely.

My Philly local talk radio has a caller on stating that ABC and Jennings mentioned how the Berg family had filed a lawsuit against Rummy because their son was missing
