There is a heavy population of smokers in Northeast Ohio. Looks like another restaurant I have to avoid

And they're gonna take their "flame-broiled, hickory smoked" steaks off the menu, also..

Applebee's will bansmoking That's just nuts. I hear that smoking affects the taste buds. If that's true, you'd think they'd roll out the red carpet for smokers, because the smokers would be less able to discern what the food really tastes like.

I banned Applebees long ago due to their bad menu and food.

This is the way smoking bans are supposed to work, no government intervention on private property.
I wish them well.

(Just my opinion, of course. Your mileage may vary. You have the right to be wrong.)

At least they're doing it of their own free will. The business consequences (good or bad) will be of their own making.
That's the way it should be.
I don't like the fumes that smoker spew out, so I would support them in this (if I liked the food).

California has already been hit with the cigarette-Nazi's. Now it's even the friggin' BEACHES! Their claim there: litter.
Cancha' just hear the drip drip of the water as it erodes the rock we call "Freedom"?

This is great news!
It is good to hear that private businesses are making the decision to ban smoking and not being forced to do so by the government.
That is what you FR-smoking types wanted isn't it?
Every time I read a smoking thread it contains pissing and moaning from FR-smokers about how the government should not interfere with private business. Well here you go! A private business made the decision to ban smoking
and guess what? You all are all still pissing and moaning!
Your habit stinks and I should not be forced to smell like Phillip Morris when I leave a restaurant. Now I can tell you what you always tell me, "If you don't like it, go somewhere else!"
Ha!

Holmes said Monday at the Eastwood Mall. ''Smoking spoils my dinner.'' Holmes, a former tobacco user, said he has eaten at Applebee's in Niles several times
The only thing worse than a "Holier Than Thou, Non-smoker" is a "Holier Than Thou, EX-smoker"

We nonsmokers really appreciate the smokers avoiding the nonsmoking restaurants. They usually smell like an ashtray, and that can be just as annoying. You know they can't stop even for an hour, even when they're eating. Ha! One reply said there are alot of smokers in Northern Ohio. Who wants to go into business with me selling Oxygen in Northern Ohio, there has got to be alot of C.O.P.D. and emphysema up there, or we could open a restaurant that has special little alcoves for people to park their oxygen bottles, so they wont get bumped in the isles. We could get rich. What a business opportunity

I have had my last meal at Applebees.
I am a non smoker, but I don't trust people that stupid and/or politically correct to prepare my food.

I used to work in an office where a couple of women were heavy smokers. Fortunately I only had to be in the office a couple of times a week but that smoke did bother me.
My wife could smell it on my clothes and so could I.
My best friend also worked in the same office. He both smoked and drank. He had enough common decency to not smoke in the office because he knew it bothered some people, and none of us ever mentioned it that I remember.
I believe in freedom and think outdoors is one thing but inside is another. Still don't think it is the government's business but indoor smokers are pretty rude imo.

Smoking was out in Florida...All the smokers panicked, whined and cried. It is so nice now going into a eatery not having to gag on someone's smoke.

The only thing important about these smoking bans is that should be voluntary. Allow or disallow by the owner. Not force of government.

Invisible here in Utah, where all public eateries are smoke-free.
To: MissTargets
Their food should be banned too.
That is the absolute worst food I've ever eaten in my life, without exaggeration.

Applebee's in Pocatello went smoke free last year. The place is always wall to wall with customers. Food and service is good. Denny's is one of the last few smoking restaurants in town. It smells gross. The restaurant is empty most of the day until the 10 PM to 2 AM rush as the bar patrons arrive to drink coffee and smoke.
There is a heavy population of smokers in Northeast Ohio.
Smoking and obesity too?
