A furious President Bush has demanded to see all photos and videos showing abuse of Iraq detainees, a senior White House source said late Sunday.
"The president was blindsided by the first TV images, he will not be blindsided again," the source, who demanded anonymity, explained to the DRUDGE REPORT.
The president has instructed Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to present him with him all known images that could further deepen the crises.
Monday editions of the NEW YORKER feature photos of a dog attacking a naked Iraqi detainee at Abu Ghraib prison.
President Bush was aware of the photo, the top source claims.
The White House is preparing for more fallout, and leaks from lawmakers.
The Pentagon is considering the possibility of showing the unseen material to members of Congress.
"It's clear the moment the evidence is sent to the Congress, we will see a new feeding frenzy in the media."

I happen to think this was politically timed and used by CBS and certain leftists, notably folks of Senator Rockefeller's ilk, to harm the President, nevermind the military. Unfortunately, no matter how much the media wants us to get worked up about it, most Americans aren't. There are a lot of Viet Nam vets in the country with families and friends, there are a lot of military presently with families and friends. Right you are and they are also trying to harm the war effort too -- turn Iraqi's against Americans.
"Those Americans, they no better than Saddam".</Iraqi accent>

Iraqi terrorists and criminal have more rights than an innocent fetus....and they have more passionate defenders here on FR too?
The power of the leftist media and how it makes us think is awesome.

1. The link isnt really mine. It was for a poster asking where the current issues arose.
2. We can put things in quotes---maybe Hersh is a liar---but given Rummys statement and Bushs disgust, Im not optimistic.
3. Ive been bitten by a dog, too. However, I wasnt naked and handcuffed. That makes it a different situation, IMO.

Every military expert I've heard, including several on this forum, said that this kind of technique is the last thing that should be used to extract information, as it WOULD....NOT....WORK! It would save on dog food.

Rummy's statement was devastating. That is why I think it is odd that Hersh wrote such tame detail.

Were you a ten years old paper boy (or something similar)when you were bitten or were you a naked, handcuffed terrorist who may have kicked in defiance when you were bitten?
To: BenLurkin
Keep lurking because Rumsfeld is not going anywhere. He knows what is out there and there is probably going to be an investigation into who at the pentagon leaked the pictures from a classified investigation to Hillary.

Did you see the pictures? He's shackled. You know, I don't like to talk to you much but I've got to tell you that what you've stated is an outright lie!
How can you lie so blatantly when it is so simple a matter as to view the photo and see that the man isn't shackled?
Did you see the photo?
Reply 59 has a link that goes to an undigitized photo. There are no shackles on that man. There are no restraints at all on him, neither at the ankles nor at the wrists!
I'll tell you what, I'm gonna chance getting in trouble just to show you how wrong you are by posting the picture. Nothing "indecent" shows as the man has his tail tucked between his legs.
AM, if you need to take this down then go ahead. I'll save the rest of my reply and post it again if necessary.

First I've seen of this photo.
No shackles.
Thanks.
Philman_36 is correct.
Not indecent photo.
I hope the photo stays.

Tell me how a naked man, with his hands tied behind his back, acts dangerously.
And there you go again! His hands aren't tied behind his back!
How can you lie so blatantly?
To: sinkspur
They were buck naked with their hands shackled behind their backs!
Oh, three times in a row you've told this STORY now!
What are you doing?

My strikes, philman's excellent critical observation.

What kind of mutt is that in the foreground? (Lower right)

I do not know if the bitten man, (if he was bitten), is a terrorist. I would assume that lots of people get detained. Some of these prisoners are going to be car thieves. Some are what we call suspects. But not all people arrested are guilty. You may be right; this man may be a terrorist. But at this stage, we should probably put terrorist in quotes.

I have no idea. I like dogs, but not enough to know the different breeds on sight.
Maybe some of the other "dog people" could help you out.

Seriouslly, according to the Taguba report, they were housing prisoners of war, street criminals and insurgents in a confused setting.
As to the biting, Taguba lists: l. (S) Using military working dogs (without muzzles) to intimidate and frighten detainees, and in at least one case biting and severely injuring a detainee;
in the section of
6. (S) I find that the intentional abuse of detainees by military police personnel included the following acts:

Some of these prisoners are going to be car thieves. Some are what we call suspects.Apparently, according to the
Taguba report, this was supposed to have occured in Tier (section) 1-A of the Abu Ghraib Prison (BCCF).
It appears, according to witness statements in the report, that no "normal prisoners" were housed in that area. They were all MI holds.
Go back to start, do not collect $200.

FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS (PART TWO) #34. (no 35?)
Some pretty interesting stuff in there.
To: philman_36
Okay...So he is an MI hold which means?
I found this intersting:
BG Karpinski was extremely emotional during much of her testimony. What I found particularly disturbing in her testimony was her complete unwillingness to either understand or accept that many of the problems inherent in the 800th MP Brigade were caused or exacerbated by poor leadership and the refusal of her command to both establish and enforce basic standards and principles among its soldiers.
A BG extremely emotional during testimony? EEK!
