And also, where would our deserters go to?

Quebec or Newfoundland

I have similar feelings in Maine,...

Come to think of it, I'd rather give Maine & all the rest of New England to Canada. A good fit, don't you think?

The Day After Tomorrow. I was on a thread about this a few days ago and got ridiculed for saying the trailers looked good. If the movie is an environmentalist screed, it should flop.

I was thinking of allowing Canada to come in as two states. East Canada and West Canada. That way we only have to add two stars to our flag. The western provinces will combine to one "super-state" and will likely send conservatives to Congress (in spite of Vancouver). The eastern provinces (sans Quebec which I have no hope for) will for their own "super-state" and will likely lean liberal so the whole thing will be a wash politically.

Quebec will be isolated and surrounded by the US. Those Frenchies will sure have their panties in a twist - too bad. Next time they boo our national anthem in their scuzzy hockey rink, we'll just kick them (Montreal) out of the NHL and we won't have to worry about playing "O Canada" in our rinks anymore because there will only be American teams left.

Obviously upper Canada will remain territories as they are pretty much unpopulated.

This would make the United States the largest country (in area) in the world and we would have access to additional natural resources that are incalculable.

Not a bad deal in that context.

When half the population of Texas speaks spanish as their first language, are you going to start shooting people? I didn't think so.

When they try, again, to make us part of Mexico we will. BTW most of the people I know under 30 with Spanish sir names don't speak Spanish very well.

This is an idea for a book I'm writing. What do you think?

You'll get "thunderous" applause and misty-eyed adulation from the 5 last-remaining members of the John Birch Society, maybe, but I understand they still regularly feel the need to purge their ranks of "conspirators." You'll line up at most a total of about 3 pre-ordered copies.

Actually that's four languages. English, Spanish, French and Canadian.

One possibility would be to combine the New England states, New Jersey, and downstate New York with the four Maritime Provinces as a separate country.

We will absorb Canada and Mexico will absorb California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

No, we will absorb Mexico too. (As soon as the government realizes that Americans would invest in Mexico if US laws prevailed.)

What do we *want* Canada for? Thirty million new voters (i.e. about 50 new US congressmen) that are stark screaming liberal? No thanks.

However, in those days we had in the Army "Old Fuss and Feathers;" "Bobby' Edward Lee; U.S. 'Sam' Grant;"Old Rough and Ready;" James Longstreet etc. The President was James Polk a man way above average for Presidents. A Congress with Webster and Calhoun etc.

Today! Hillary and Bill; Kerry, Teddy Kennedy. The list can go on and on and on. Such a list will set forth all the human vices. If one looks carefully each individual will exemplify a particular one of the seven deadly sins i.e. Kennedy=drunkeness; Bill=lust and so forth. The country pays a price for this type of indulgence.

The Day After Tomorrow. This is the one.

The trailers look like the movie will be packed with some good special effects and action sequences.

On the other hand, the audience will be bombarded with enviro-wacko themes and guilt for causing the castistrophic end of life on earth within the next decade or two. Check out the website.

The bottom line is one has to either have a strong stomach, or really believe in this stuff to get through the movie. (or so I assume)

Total junk-science goron crapola.

I like the idea of Canada becoming a part of the US (without Quebec, of course). To make it happen, I think there would have to be a super majority on both sides of the border to vote on it and to make it happen.

In the US the vote would be like a blend of a popular vote and Constitutional amendment: 3/4 of the 50 current United States' legislatures would have to approve, and 3/4 of the voting population of the US would have to vote in favor. Same thing on the Canadian side of the border.

Get 3/4 agreement from those who join (Canadians) and 3/4 agreement on them joining the US (as voiced by US citizenry and govt), and you will have the national purpose established and philosophical cohesion necessary to make the concept work.

After that we could work on the UK to pull out of the EU and form a North Atlantic Free Trade Zone.

Mexico will absorb Texas when and ONLY when they can pry my gun from my cold dead hands.

I agree, but I believe that our local, city, state and feral gov has sold us out.

They may win, but they have a bunch of prying to do first.

Safe Chief.

I used the "Really Big Texas Ping List" on this. Let me know if you want off.
