[history]
WASHINGTON FBI agents arrested a Portland, Ore., man Thursday as part of the investigation into the deadly train bombings in Spain, federal officials said.
Brandon Bieri Mayfield, a U.S. citizen, was taken into custody on a material witness warrant, said a senior law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity. The arrest, first reported in Newsweek, is the first known in the United States with connections to the March 11 bombings in Madrid.
The FBI also searched his home, which he shares with his wife, the official said.

We have a younger relative who was a heavy duty construction project manager with many jobs with Intel and Nike for about a year in the early 90's.
He started warning all of us about the left wingers in Beaverfornia/Portland with both Intel, Nike and HP back then. Their offices were loaded with left wing liberals and Islamos back then.
I got an email from him this morning about this latest exposure with one simple message, "I told all of you about this back in the early 90's! This is just the tip of the iceberg!"
He was very happy to leave the Portland area. However, a year in Spokane and a year+ in the Bend area saw the same infection moving in under the cover of PC ism.

Yep, this is one of those threads we need to bookmark.
There will be many returns and reminders to this mess as it unfolds.

Thanks my friend. I remembered the case, but I couldn't remember the name of this vile left wing traitor lawyer:
Are you thinking of Lynn Stewart the lawyer for Sheik Abdel-Rahman who was convicted in a thwarted conspiracy to assassinate Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and bomb New York City landmarks, including the United Nations and bridges and tunnels. She was arrested for "unlawful communications" with him during prison visits and telephone calls. She was used as a conduit to run his terrorist enterprise from within Federal prison.
I wonder if she has ever been tried yet. Or is she free on a bond and still being a home grown terrorist.

This just gets better and better with each link:
The complaint says Shaltout was arrested on April 9, 2003, taken to Camp Bucca and accused of being a speechwriter and "right-hand-man" of Saddam Hussein. He claims he was beaten after protesting his arrest.
The complaint also says $119,000 was taken from his hotel room in Iraq and not returned. Nelson, said Shaltout cannot go home because American authorities have refused to hand back his green card.
The lawsuit, which demands $350,000 in damages, says Shaltout was freed and eventually taken to Egypt.
Who takes $119,000 in cash to a hotel room in Iraq? Sounds like terrorist behavior.....
Prairie
Travis, it sounds like you have enough real life material to write a series of books about enemies within the Portland, Oregon area.

Thank you for the posted link. Yes, there are some interesting details.
Mayfield is being held as a material witness under a federal statute designed to protect the identity of grand jury witnesses.
I am beginning to suspect that there is an Oregon cell, and that there is a federal grand jury investigating it and that this attorney probably arranged (either knowingly or unknowingly) for many of the immigration documents of the cell's members. That would connect to the "more arrests" aspects within the emerging story as well.
Thanks for the heads up. I really wonder if there might also be an email or web-chat room link between this Oregon lawyer giving out immigration advice to European cell members trying to get into the US for terrorist missions? Inquiring minds want to know!

Makes me believe the antrax plotter was also American.

Excellent observations. Yes, it was interesting that all the Howash supporters "disappeared". I don't recall a single one coming forward after the fact. Am I incorrect in that? My only contact with Portland is the evening news as I moved about 100 miles away about 8 years ago. Had no idea Beaverton and Aloha had merged and become one little liberal cesspool.
Quick everyone out of the pool!

Good question prairiebreeze. His whole story sounds fishy. Last night on the 10pm news (Portland) they asked Nelson (the attorney) a couple of questions regarding the Mayfield case. Nelson is acting as the family spokesperson. The news-person made a brief off the cuff remark about Nelson's sympathies (don't recall the exact comment) and they showed the license plate on Nelson car which he was standing along side. The license plate "frame" thingy said "Free Palestine".

You are probably correct.
I still think that a ultra left winger connected with Bio was involved. This person was probably another home grown hater of America.
Having said that. I believe that Atta and the $oddomite/Iraq were involved in that near miss.

Apparently they took his home computer.
With one client per month, he had plenty of time in his office to do a lot of emailing and other computer stuff.

Hopefully, there will be wide scale arrests of the Islamoterrorists in the Portland area. We can only hope.
All I can say about this lawyer is this: typical leftist Bush-hater.
I wouldn't put this kind of thing past the whole lot of 'em.

Wasn't Nelson just on Free Palestine Chrissy Matthew's hate GW show?

She was caucasian (yes, I profile) American (no accent)I must, in good conscience, correct the above post I made last night.
I posted that when the Portland news was attempting to interview Mona Mayfield (a while before she made her public statement). She was standing in the doorway of her house and the above were my observations.
Since then I have read that she is not caucasian or American. She is Egyptian. I do not know if she is now a American citizen or if she still hold Egyptian citizenship. IMO it only compounds the whole situation. She does speak English well.

I remember one of your replies last night where another Mayfield defended this POS and said the only thing he did was being anti GW?
This may be an interesting case where we get to see where a lot of this hate GW stuff has come from.
Thanks for all of your replies and insight as an outside Portland Observer.
