This has been a really bad week politics-wise. Good for me personal-wise though.

I need to concentrate on the positives I think, I don't want all this news.

"Bush IS of Reagan stature."

In your dreams, maybe, on the world stage Bush is getting his clock cleaned. And here at home based on his record his is a socialist.

Well, now........do you really expect me to believe that you were really a supporter of the Republican party and the President when you're ready to leave because you don't think he should have said the word "sorry?"

I'm not that gullible, jpsb.

Anyone who says that this is the 'last straw' and they're leaving the party because of it is a phony.

Sorry to be so blunt.

Same thing that people like you said about Reagan when he was President.

Short memories, I guess.

It reminds me of the way they did Trent Lott.

###

A lot of people will remember the Trent Lott saga. And more people will recognize the hysterical unreasonableness of the dems for what it is - a utter failure to accept the they are not in power.

Perhaps one of the unintended consequences of the Trent Lott drumming-out will be that they cannot play that hand again.

"Bush is revealing himself to be a man who is trying to live his Christian faith,"

Just like Jimmy Charter. Jimmy Charter is a man of faith, and a man of integrity and a fool.

Yes. This is the National Day of Prayer, and our President took time out of his day to ask God for guidance.

THAT...........is good news.

Anyone who compares this man's faith with Jimmy Carter's is completely ignorant of both men.

Phony.

I think it depends on how he apologized that some Iraqis got humiliated. If he did it like Clinton or Carter --- fake tears and hand wringing it would be very wrong. If he quietly, sincerely, and with dignity apologized then it's okay. I think most of us really wish those involved hadn't pulled those stunts just like we think a lot of fraternity and high school hazings go way too far.

I don't believe Carter is a man of integrity, nor do I believe Bush is a fool.

An apology by any other name is still an apology. The perception is that GWB apologized. Clintonisque parsing won't work.

If you go to your friend's mother's wake and say "I'm sorry that your mother died," is that an apology or a sentiment of sympathy?

yes, that probably is the best news of the day - getting ZERO coverage.

Prediction - Bush will make a prime time address/press conference to the nation sometime in the next 7-10 days. He has got to get some facts out there, lay out something more then the endless daily lies in the media, and mitigate this apology stuff with an attack against the left for using this to damage the military. I still say the country is ripe for such a message, they don't want to see our military trashed.

Well, Savage is going on about it some, but he's not railing or going nuts like some said he would here. He's kinda just sad about the situation, like I am.

I think it depends on how he apologized that some Iraqis got humiliated.

Saw it three times. It gets better each time. It could not have been more dignified and was framed in the context of a personal "I'm sorry" to the King of Jordan. It could be interpreted as a apology to Iraq, but that is a matter of their interpretation which hopefully is positive and understood.

This is madness. Who do these people represent?

^^^^

They represent the get-Bush-for-living-in-the-White-House wing of the Dem party.

They were grinning as they stepped up to the Congressional PR room microphone to express their two cents. Who elects them is a better question!

Never belonged to a home owners association, and don't plan to, but I'd bet the rent some folks here would fit right into that type environment.

All the pictures of your friends are actually only mirrors.

I didn't see it all --- but that's kind of how I would have imagined it. There is nothing wrong with a dignified apology ---- we all apologize to our neighbors if our kids break one of their windows or steps all over their garden and ruin some plants. Just so it's not some kind of Jimmy Swagger/Bill Clinton sobbing silly apology.
