Sinclair Stations Won't Run "Nightline" Tribute (Ha Ha! BITE It, Koppel -- !)

NewsBlues.com is reporting [no free link] that Sinclair Broadcast Group has ordered its ABC-affiliated stations not to carry tomorrow's "Nightline," which will air the names and photos of soldiers who have been killed in combat in Iraq.

Sinclair General Counsel Barry Faber tells the site: "We find it to be contrary to the public interest."

The boycott will affect eight ABC-affiliated Sinclair stations.

I haven't seen anything related to Sinclair (oil) on the east coast since the 1964 Worlds Fair in Queens, NY. (OK, I'm dating myself now!) I remember a big Sinclair exhibit at the Fair where I got a hot plastic dinosaur fresh out of some type of plastic-melting/molding machine.

We stopped at a Sinclair gas station back in fall 2002 when we were visiting Colorado. There's one right across the street from the Coors Brewery in Golden, CO... complete with a small Sinclair dinosaur souvenir shop! :-)

FOX did do it initially, until "major combat" was over. I remember the music they used, and the moment it would start, I would be on the verge of tears. It was such a tribute to those who had been WILLING to make the ultimate sacrifice.

But this mess by ABC is just another attack upon the President by trying to blame Bush for all the deaths. Disgusting politics in a time of war. If I were the parent of one of these brave soldiers, I would be insulted.

Sorry bud, didn't mean to undercut your thread with another thread (totally different title and source).

Damn--with a few clever twists, one can derive the Krispy Kreme logo from the sinclair logo.

Must mean something...

Good one.
I think it means Krispy Kremes are recycled from the atoms of dead dinosaurs.

I used to have a six transistor radio that was a replica of the Sinclair gas pump. Cool.

The ABC Television network announced on Tuesday that the Friday, April 30th edition of “Nightline” will consist entirely of Ted Koppel reading aloud the names of U.S. servicemen and women killed in action in Iraq. Despite the denials by a spokeswoman for the show the action appears to be motivated by a political agenda designed to undermine the efforts of the United States in Iraq.

Did ABCDisney bother to do a similar "tribute" to every man woman and child killed in the 9.11.2001 attacks?

"...{W]e would ask that you first question Mr. Koppel as to why he chose to read the names of the 523 troops killed in combat in Iraq, rather than the names of the thousands of private citizens killed in terrorists attacks since and including the events of September 11, 2001."

BINGO! Who are these people? I love them.

In the south...I doubt if 3 percent of the audience watches nightline. Most southerners would prefer runruns of Steinfeld or Gomer Pyle. As for old Ted...another example of a news "performer" who has maxed out and headed downhill. They should have retired Ted long ago.
