John Kerry's commanding officer was just interviewed on Fox News. According to Lt. Commander Grant Hibbard when Kerry showed up in front of him requesting a Purple Heart, Hibbard saw that he had a "scratch"(Hibbard's word) on his forearm. And because, according to Hibbard, there was no report of enemy action on Kerry's patrol that day and the "scratch" did not receive medical attention from a medical officer, Hibbard declined Kerry's request for a Purple Heart.

I am aware of the requirements.
My point perhaps was not clear.
Medals are not equal.

"All the while thinking, if I can just get three of these, I'll have my political career made."
No...he's thinking, three of these and I AM OUT OF HERE.
...which he did, in four months...

A kerry spokesman was just on Fox answering the charges. He did a terrible job.
Then the fox guy asked him if he could prove that there was combat action that night of this supposed wound, so he pulls out Kerry's fitness report written by Cdr Hibbard back then.
He proceeds to read something he says that was from 3 days later that says that Kerry's job required him to be involved in combat operations while on a boat. He tries to make it look like this is Hibbard saying that Kerry was JUST INVOLVED in combat ops.
Then he reads the clincher....he starts reading Kerry's ratings. Hibbard he says wrote for fitness that Kerry was "above the majority."
Anyone who knows how fitness reports are written knows that that was the kiss of death. Hibbard had just said that Kerry was "a step above average." Now we know why Cdr Hibbard wrote what he wrote. And why he has now said what he said.

You must notta been there. Everyone in Nam knew about the three purple heart rule. I saw guys sticking arms and legs out of bunkers hoping to get one a then 'million dollar' wounds. You had to be there...

"Kerry knew about the three PHs and out policy. I go back a long way but have never heard of that policy before, from anyone, except Kerry."I never heard of it before either. It was explained as an unwritten rule...and I wonder if the idea for this "unwritten rule" was instituted by Kerry's powerful political contacts.

Kerry's whole Viet Nam experience smells to high heaven to me. Video cameras??? Who do you know besides Kerry and Patton had video cameras recording???
And to "request" a PH, I think that's disgraceful...that's why his C.O. laughed it off when he asked for one!
Guys were getting their behinds shot off daily and this guy has the unmitigated gall to stand in front of his C.O. and "request" a PH for a scratch on his forearm????!!!

Your FRIEND deserves a PH, whether he believes he does in his own mind or not, his CO should have put him in for one, and it is to his CO's discredit that he didn't.

Call me naive, or too pro-veteran,...I'm not sure which it is so I won't pick one right now. I understand your sentiment, though, but then again, most PH recipients did not go around basically begging to be awarded the medal. They also don't talk about it a lot, much less brag. Kerry's the one that's making an issue out of it by highlighting his service... let the chips fall where they may.

I am personally scared that GWB's Guard record will surface and show as true what the Dems allege Horse manure. You just sign up today, provide cover for that scum kerry and question GWB?? Go on back to DU, troll.

He was
holding a piece of shrapnel...when nobody had seen any action that day??
Oh MAN, this gets better and better. No wonder he's such a bad actor now...he was one then, too! Hibble obviously knew Kerry was giving him a BS story, and as much as said it right there.

Medals questionably awarded will be investigated by this Marine and others who served proudly and were slandered by Senator Kerry's treasonous words before the Senate in 1971.(There were no "mass atrocities" by American GI's in Viet Nam)
We have seen over the years many veterans especially in public office who have worn ribbons that they did not earn.
And it would be criminal of me or any other veteran to allow Senator Kerry to continue wearing ribbons that were unwarranted.

"Kerry knew about the three PHs and out policy. I go back a long way but have never heard of that policy before, from anyone, except Kerry."
I think his superior officers realized he was a nut case, but since he was protected by Ted Kennedy, they came up with the Purple Heart routine to get him out before he did any serious damage.

Hibbard actually seemed hesitant to overly criticize Kerry.
Said Kerry was only under his command about 3 weeks.
