My apologies if a thread already exists. I did a search on "Toomey" and found nothing.
I arrived at my polling area (suburban Philadelphia) at 6:45 am to hand out palm cards. The weather is terrific this morning, but turnout (I thought) was light (I had to leave at 9:15, but will be back).
Actually, I have a good feeling about Pat.

I'm with you: this idea of "Arab Democracy" is arrant silliness.
The Arabs, with their "1000 years of civilization" have decided the epoch they're most comfortable with is somewhere around the 13th century, when women knew their place and VD hadn't yet been spread to camels.

Specter will be worse than any Dem in whacking any Bush Supreme Court nominee that isn't to the left of Ginsburg. Specter was a good defender of Clarence Thomas.

I just saw Toomeys concession, very classy, said he will support Spector and President Bush.

We are just going to have to agree to disagree on Toomey being viable in general.. I have no doubt in my mind he would have gone down like a load of bricks.
Conservatives can win state wide, but those conservatives are in a wholey different league than Toomey. He doesn't have "it". He's not going to pull votes in Philly or Eastern PA among dems or moderates... and you gotta do that to win the state.
As I said, Toomey in general is eaten for breakfast and farted out by brunch by Philly and eastern PA... results similar to Fisher's. No doubt in my mind at all.
So just have to agree to disagree.. and since it isn't going to happen, not a big deal either way.

Do you have to come in an just spew reality like that?
Your probably more than right...but us lurkers from the other 49 states love a true conservative underdog...

I've heard he can part the Rio Grande. So can I, at certain times of the year...
CONGRATS TO SURVEYUSA for coming within 2% of calling the race.
Qpoll and Key stone polls were off by 4-5%

To get policy enacted, you have to win elections.

The dirty little secret is that Penn Pubbies are not that ideological, in an internecine sense. Specter carried Perry County, just packed with Pubbies and Bushies, with Dems a suspect class. I rest my case. Penn ain't Alabama, even if The T is called Alabama north. It ain't.

Either way .. Toomey did good in the race .. many didn't think he'd pull more then 35-40 %

Specter victory speech on now. Yechhhh...

"He's (Specter) is a potential jeffords now."Maybe not.
Jeffords was only a "Jeffords" when the margin was 50-49; if the GOP pick up a seat or two, Specter will be the most loyal of 'Pubbies - he has no inclination whatsoever to be a member no matter how senior of the minority!

If Specter is the better fit, then why does Santorum run better in PA? It must be because of the poor quality of the Dem Senate candidates. Because the same voters in 2000 that elected Santorum +8 over Klink also geve Gore a +4 victory over Bush.

IMO, GW provided the edge (ads, phone banks, etc.). They were very afraid of a Toomey win. Good try Pennsylvania Conservatives. Let's keep up the good fight.
