My apologies if a thread already exists. I did a search on "Toomey" and found nothing.
I arrived at my polling area (suburban Philadelphia) at 6:45 am to hand out palm cards. The weather is terrific this morning, but turnout (I thought) was light (I had to leave at 9:15, but will be back).
Actually, I have a good feeling about Pat.

So what is next for Toomey? PA governor?

I am pissed, and live in California...
This kind of crap really pisses me off about GW....
All bush had to do was nod and wink, and it would have been a Toomey landslide
This actually makes Bush look weak. His horse sucked and crossed the finish line panting like an old nag...
Arlen sucks

Thank you for that answer.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, an 11,00 vote swing in 7% of the precincts....

Well...that's that.

All night Toomey was closing the gap from 45-50 toward 50-50, then just when it was within our grasp some squish precincts reported.
Damn.
To: Quicksilver
Those numbers are a wrap. It is over, unless there are arithmetic errors. The Pubbie vote was amazingly uniform across the state. There were differences, but outside Toomey's district, and to a lessor extent Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties, marginal. That is the big story of this primary, which of course will not be reported.

Thanks. Usually the State Election site works fine. Tonight I think Rendell must be at the keyboard.

Hoeffel is about as masturbatingly liberal as a Democrat can possible be. Under no circumstances known to man could I vote for that scumbag.
I voted for Toomey tonight, but if Specter is the GOP candidate, I will vote for him against Hoeffel. I do remember that Arlen was an effective Republican point man in killing "Hillary-Care", and he was masterful in exposing Anita Hill and that woman judge from California as liars during the Thomas hearings.
I sure hope Toomey wins, but Specter is definitely better than most Democrats. It would stink if Specter wins, but it wouldn't be the end of the world. I think that the other Senate Republicans would fry Specter if he won and then turned around and stabbed Dubya in the back on tax cuts or judges. In fact, I bet Dubya has already secured certain "assurances" for his endorsement.

Gosh darn it all...
Santorum and Bush could have won this for Toomey. I couldn't understand Santorum saying Toomey was too conservative to win in PA given how conservative Santorum himself is! Specter and judges are a disaster. Toomey was worth the gamble.
I hate "Senate collegiality."

Just be careful about throwing out the baby with the bath water. There is still something about losing the battle, winning the war to consider.
A "choice" between two pro-abortion candidates is a lost war as far as I'm concerned. They can both go to ... well, you know where...

All bush had to do was nod and wink, and it would have been a Toomey landslide I don't think it was because of Bush and Santorum
Arlen ran some pretty hard hitting commericals on Toomey ..

A choice between a liberal and a RINO is no choice at all. Third party, here I come. Too bad.... Well said.
If I were in PA - I'd have to pull for Bush and vote third party in the senate seat.
Specter is so bad I'd honestly prefer a Democratic Senate without him in our ranks than a Republican senate with him. Which is unlikely in any case given that the Dems are defending more open seats in the Red Zone.
Hoeffel has a worse ACU rating but Specter does more damage by giving Democrats "bipartisan" cover for way too many votes and bills.
To: BCrago66
HA...my vote has never meant squat. In every election I've voted in either my candidate or the other have overwhelmingly won.
If Bush loses by one vote, then blame me. I'll bet you $1 million that won't happen.
As to "my vote" supporting "our military", that's hogwash. My vote does nothing unless you assume Kerry will have all of them killed and Bush is perfect. HA! Just look at the last two weeks BS in Fallujah..."talking" with idiots? Showing "constraint" and weakness to people that see that as a door to attack more?
Does Bush learn anything? Rumsfeld? I'm all for our efforts, but I'm tired of good Marines dying while politicians play their games.
Just watch, today's attacks will be stopped by Thursday as they go back to "talking".
Go ahead, flame me. I'm resolved this forum isn't about debate any longer.

I'm afraid that Specter will lose in November. He's vulnerable now so this is one state where the Dems can help their Senate chances. Hoeffel will get more votes in Philly than Lynn Yeakel got (he does represent part of it) and a good number of Toomey voters won't vote for Specter. So Bush and Santorum just lost this Senate seat.
