Please share how these 3-400 losers are going to come out and kill us? I'm dying to know.

Relax. It took 7 years after the Washington crossed the Delaware and killed the Hessians at Trenton for the British to finally surrender. Freedom is a long and often painful exercise. The president told us from the beginning this was going to be long, often silent, often hard, so dig in and prepare for it. I believe the majority of Americans understand that even with the horrid press we're getting.

Buck up and dust off your rifle.

I care about Republican voters (especially women) who, weak as they often are, are needed.

Only in physical strength. You've been hanging around the wrong women.

Don't see what the big deal is, it looks all good for us.

Agreed. Al Jazeera has been lamenting the "weakened resistance," so I'd say we're ahead of the game.

It's not going to be safe, but it wouldn't be safe under any conditions. Letting our guys pick them off 1 by 1 is a great idea.

(I still think, for picking them off 1 by 1, you all should go see Man on Fire, the latest Denzel Washington film where a former US secret ops guy takes out an entire network of corrupt Mexican officials and thugs - great film!)

Well .. if the Iraqi guys perform the way they did when the insurgent mess started, I sure don't want my soldier's back protected by those guys.

And .. if our soldiers get ambushed because the Iraqi guys won't shoot other muslims - they the jig is up. Maybe then the people who have told the President we have to back off can go on TV and publically apologize to the families of the dead soldiers for giving the President such STUPID advice!!

I know this group is specially trained to handle this type of warfare .. but it's still the most dangerous.

I think some people are not going to be happy, until we line up in front of the enemy as though it was the Civil War. Asymetrical warfare has been used against the U.S. for the last 40 years, because no one can face us head on. Then, we start getting a clue about it, and a bunch of folks lose their heads, screaming QUAGMIRE. Screw this, it's Guinness time.

And just for the record,no, I do not have any military background except for my brother being a Captain in the Army but I just feel that the psycological aspects of this operation may help us win it. We've got the fire power and we can be flexible. The rags are stuck in the buildings. They know that if things get bad we can call in some hellacious airstrikes and I believe GW has that option open to him if his commanders on the ground request it. I just hate it that people are freaking out and calling this Vietnam and that they are going to jump parties because we didn't do an all out offensive YET. I say relax and watch a brilliant military victory(hopefully).

I don't see where we HAVE allowed them free access to mosques if there is clear evidence that the enemy is using it to attack us. As I recall, we already HAVE attacked a couple, and without any Iraqi public outcry, because they knew what the mosque was being used for.

And by the way, since people keep bringing up Vietnam, it's worth noting that by 1972, the Army of the Republic of South Vietnam was IN FACT capable of defeating the North if we continued to supply it and provide air support. The strategy of "winning the hearts and minds" did IN FACT work---until Congress withdrew all support for SVN in 1975.

Look for more hostage taking of civilians next week, as the insurgents are becoming more desperate.

The idea is to leave Fallujah standing.

As much as I would prefer to see zero US casualties, I agree that leaving Fallujah intact is best for our long term efforts there.

I asked you on another thread to define winning.

I answered you. Perhaps you were in a hurry to watch NASCAR. I defined winning as when none take up arms against us. Kill them until they stop. Whatever it takes. Just like WWII.

The objective is NOT a military victory, ...

Well there you have it, the kernel of truth in your perspective. I really would not have minded a victory in Vietnam. I don't respect those who spend our men's lives knowing they are not seeking a military victory.

Fox reported earlier that President Bush was at Camp David this weekend and was teleconferencing with the commanders over secure circuits. That gives both W and the commanders a chance to review and revise plans to get the job done in a manner most likely to succeed with the fewest American casualties. He has said that the insurgents and terrorists will not succeed and I believe he will make sure they don't. He has my support.

Al Jazerra's cameras are ready and poised to capture those deaths, so we are not going to provide them. Instead, we will just keep shooting the insurgents through the head from sniper rifles, and let the insurgents starve.

A couple shots al Jazerra's way wouldn't hurt either.

"There are few if any on this board with the knowledge and expertise to second guess our President on this issue. He is acting with the best advice available."

Rogator Colonel, USAF (Retired) calls it right.

(But FR's Barney Fife Brigade disagrees: "You gotta nip it in the bud! Nip it in the bud!")
