Kerry National Headquarters Sics Cops on Freepers, Kristinn to Be On Fox News - On Now
D.C. Chapter of FR ^ | 4/17/04 | L_von_Mises

The DC Chapter of Free Republic set up a Viet-Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale in front of Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry's national headquarters in Washington DC this afternoon. The Kerry campaign responded by calling the D.C. police to shut down the bake sale.

When the D.C. police arrived they ordered the DC Chapter to shut down the protest in 15 minutes or they would ticket them for occupying a public space without a permit. At that point the police would then disperse them themselves.

Due to the short notice, and the fact that it would be a small group, the DC Chapter did not apply for a permit.

Kristinn is scheduled to appear on Fox News this afternoon for an in-studio interview. The interview should air sometime between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm today. As more details become available, they will posted here.

Kudos to those that attended. The honor roll is Kristinn, Angelwood, TGSLTakoma, TBP, Trueblackman, and Staytrue.

Here is the link to the original announcement about the bake sale

It's Amatuer Hour at Kerry Central.

I can't believe they would be so arrogant as to shake down a small group of people and create National News!

I'm stunned. Really.

Next time, bring one of those trays that hang around the necks - you know like hot dog vendors and cigarett girls have? This way, you can barter for the goods, and not actually need a permit, because you don't have a structure.

Apparently Kerry doesn't believe in the First Amendment.

Isn't there some rule about the permits about more than x number of people gathering requires one?

I can't believe that a few people gathering and not disturbing the peace or doing anything violent would require a permit of police attention.

"Items being offered at the Viet Cong Vets for Kerry bake sale will include: Three Scratches and You're Out Purple Heart Cookies, Hanoi Hilton Misfortune Cookies, Jane Fonda Nut Cakes, Punji Bread Sticks, Ho Ho Ho Chi Mints, and Vichyssois.

Free Range Waffles and Kerry Flips Flops will also be offered."

LOL! Sound about the appropriate things for Kerry.

Every John Freakin' Kerry rally should be challenged for their permit!

I was just going to say the same thing!

If this is repeated, WITH a permit, I wonder what the Kerryites will do then? Strong arm? Make a scene?

I just spoke to Kristinn and Fox has decided that they would not be conducting the interview because they will be focusing on recent developments is Israel

You forgot, this is the weekend, when the liberals rule FOX (but we still get Fair and Balanced during the week).

...If you top 200 items sold, you're a Ranger.

I spent 2½ months in GA & FL for nothing...could have had a Bake Sale.

Everyone send this to any news outlets you know how to contact and let's see what happens.

that's a great list!

It is. It also included tossed medal salad, Ho Chi Minhts, Pecan Sandinista cookies, and other items.

Only one item missing:

Grateful Ngyen Giap Griddlecakes - best eaten in collectivist dining rooms and when eaten, thanks is offered for those who's antiwar protests gave aid and comfort to the enemy

Great idea. Now that we know it irritates them, people are talking about doing it again. Perhaps we can find a way to include these next time.
