ALGIERS, April 15 (Reuters) - President Jacques Chirac said on Thursday there should be no bargaining with "terrorists" after a purported offer by Osama bin Laden of a truce to Europeans if they pulled troops out of Muslim nations.

"There can be no possible bargaining with terrorists," Chirac during a visit to Algeria.

He also ruled out French military involvement in Iraq. France opposed the U.S.-led invasion of Iraq, but has some troops in Afghanistan

Why bargain, when surrender works so well?

"He also ruled out French military involvement in Iraq"

I saw there were only three posts on this thread, so I thought I'd be the first to mention surrender.

Damn.

"There can be no possible bargaining with terrorists," Chirac during a visit to Algeria." LOL!
"He also ruled out French military involvement in Iraq"

He never ruled out French involvement in Iran, however.

Sorry! Maybe next time. I'm sure there will be plenty of French surrender opportunities in the future.

Then we should say "no sir, definitely not, and you can put ketchup on that".

Nobody is his right mind collaborates or negotiates with terrorists.

Who said "in his right mind"? This is Chiraq we're talking about.

Well, that's your first mistake. You assume the French and the french-looking Kerry are in their right minds. Not necessarily a valid assumption.

Did Jackie Chirac grow a spine when I wasn't looking?

You guys ought to be thankful. Based on Chirac's positions in the past, I'm surprised that he didn't take Bin Laden up on his offer.....

"There can be no possible bargaining with terrorists," Chirac during a visit to Algeria.

Left unsaid was that Jacques Chiraq believes the only course is unconditional surrender.

Oh, there's been plenty of french involvement in Iraq, just not the kind the french want the world to know about. Got bribes anyone?

Who said he isn't? France has no troops in Iraq, and though I wouldn't quote me, I don't believe they have any in Afghanistan. The lack of troops in the Islamokazi home world, according to this "ultimatum", is the only prerequisite for this "rearm/regroup truce".

President Jacques Chirac said on Thursday there should be no bargaining with "terrorists" after a purported offer by Osama bin Laden of a truce to Europeans if they pulled troops out of Muslim nations.

Later, when he thought the mike had been turned off, he was heard to utter to his assistant: "Tell Osama we can't talk here. Have him meet me around the back."

No public bargaining is what he meant to say. Behind closed doors Chirac is on his knees begging. This is my opinion of-course.

What Chirac meant to say was not, "there is no bargaining"... rather he meant to say, "there is no need for France to bargain. We have already met their conditions."
