Must be next successor. read the code - "other officer next in the order of succession to the office of President, or Vice President-elect". Rumsfeld is WAY too far down the line at this point.

I would hardly classify the soldiers who fought in the Confederate Army as "Democrat traitors."

Exactly, Laz. Even after 9-11, Americans still have that "it can't happen here" attitude about way too many things. FReegards.Personally, I think we are overdue for a good coup. We're awfully old as far as contiguous governments go, and there seems to be about a 70-year cycle for world-wide momentous occurances. It can be argued that the collapse of Communism was that, but what about our side of the globe?

"The phrase "pull the trigger" has several different meanings, especially when used in an arumentative context."Maybe so, in an isolated context.
However, only someone trying to minimize the statement wouldn't understand that the whole phrase .. "We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say 'This is one of our bad days,' and pull the trigger .. doesn't mean just what it says ...
Execution.

they discount over and over again any relationship btw them and the ad (I believe them). But I repeated over and over again, that if they pretend like this is nothing, we will not. I told her in plain terms that calling for the assassination of the Sec of Defense is unacceptable and not a joke, and the FBI etc needs to get involved. I was calm, but extremely powerful in my outrage. I encourage all Freepers to call the FL DEM party, and Kerry.

FROM MIRRIAM-WEBSTER:
Main Entry: fig·u·ra·tive
Function: adjective
1 a : representing by a figure or resemblance : EMBLEMATIC b : of or relating to representation of form or figure in art (figurative sculpture)
2 a : expressing one thing in terms normally denoting another with which it may be regarded as analogous : METAPHORICAL (figurative language) b : characterized by figures of speech (a figurative description)
So, in the context of the ad, exactly what was, "We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say, 'This is one of our bad days,' and pull the trigger," representing emblematically or metaphorically?

oh puleeze.
I have never seen anything like that posted here - sure it would be pulled. But this is not even anything like a forum - it was a blatant ad by an official democrat leader in a public newspaper. No one despises Kerry more than I - but I do not want him killed by any means. This one is a whole different ball game and privately the demo party has got to have their drawers in a wad about it.

That is probably more applicable, though the intent required is arguable lacking in this instance (to impede or retaliate)
I think since it is a political ad, it would be a pretty easy case to argue the intent to actual do the act is lacking. Otherwise why publish it?

Further, you posts remind me of Hillary and other RATS, who when caught making a non-PC statement that if a republican made would lead the news and cause protests and calls for resignation respond with "It was only a joke." No one even questioned Hillary when she called someone a "F'ing Jew Bastard" either.

Good lord how extremist. But, if the Dems are feeling that way we must be doing something right to scare them so much!

I did not say posted here...but some conservatives (not on this board) have made similar political based attacks on the other side.
And I don't think the National Democratic Party cares about some little St. Petersburg ad. I mean, heck, speakers at the Young Democratic Conventions routinely call for assasinating GOP leadership...and no one cares.

So this really doesn't bother you then, pulling the trigger. Would you do it? Pull the trigger, Rumsfeld is after all not next in succession.

I only think our attacks are against the wrong part of the ad.
Attack it on its merits.
