I'm somewhat of a newbie, but for me, yesterday was a good example.
This place is such a refuge. We just found out my dad has cancer, still waiting for the exact prognosis, but it is in his liver. He's in the process of getting more tests to see if it spread there from somewhere else. My dad has always been my hero, so these last few days have been the worst in my life.
I am just doing anything to try to take my mind off of things, so I got on here yesterday, and a thread caught my eye about President Bush's daughters and their dresses on Easter. It started out fairly normal, but there was a troll present, and the posts just got funnier and funnier. I would check it out throughout the day, and it continued into this morning. I don't think I have laughed so much in my life.
So besides being very informative, FR is a great place to be with friends who can make you smile when you need it most.

Oh Lisa, I am so sorry for you and your dear father.
I am happy you found FR and you're a wonderful
addition. You fit right in from the start.
I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Oh I am so sorry for you. I will remember your Dad in my prayers and so will many others here. This is another wonderful thing about FR, we all share each other's good time, as well as the bad. It has helped me through so many hard times!

My prayers for your Dad.
I have often found Freepers to be good company to hang out with. If you need a laugh, a cry or a good troll roast this is the place to be.
My acerbic wit is not appreciated in all venues but I have found pithy soul mates here.
I find the humor here exquisite . I consider myself fortunate to have been welcomed aboard.

And what was the screen name of that troll?
