US marines pressing an offensive in this Iraqi town west of Baghdad bombed a mosque in the center of the town Wednesday and killed up to 40 insurgents inside, a marine officer said.
The attack came from a jet aircraft at a high angle to minimize the impact, the officer said.
"We wanted to kill the people inside," said Lieutenant Colonel Brennan Byrne.

We also have the 50 Cal. Barrett for sniping, which is capable of shots of over 2 miles.
During Desert Storm, the Republican Guard Officers used to stand on a high sand pile or truck hood to address his ranks but they had to quickly change that protocol because they just fell over dead with out a head or a hole in their chest big enough to pass a Pizza. And they never heard the shot.

reuters ^ | 4/7/04 | Reuters BAGHDAD, April 7 (Reuters) - Iraq's U.S.-installed Governing Council has discussed a proposal not to prosecute the rebel cleric Moqtada al-Sadr for murder if he agrees to halt a Shi'ite uprising, council members said on Wednesday. They told Reuters after meeting to discuss the violence sweeping Iraq that using more force against the young cleric and his followers could lead to more civilian casualties and bolster support for him. "Iraq could refrain from pursuing the arrest warrant in return for Moqtada renouncing violence," said one Shi'ite council member, who was speaking on condition of anonymity. |

I saw this. Can you hear my blood boiling?

No. WE will give them respect.
Being terrorists ourselves blurs any distinctions we may want to make between us and them
My comment about laughing while burning their dead bodies was pure sarcasm. Sorry you did not recognize it as such, I do understand the distinction.
However, NO ISLAMIST TERRORIST PIG PUS SCUM_BAG WILL EVER GET OR DESERVE MY RESPECT OR AMERICAS RESPECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hopefully, this will soon be over.

Guess what?
That's where the terrorists HERE can be found too!
Makes little sense to kill the rats miles away and leave the nests in your backyard alone.

He's my nephew, MontanaBeth. My sister called me yesterday to tell me he was there. I had already seen the news, as did my sister. I told her the FReepers would be praying for her son. That made her very happy.
Thank you.

We'll get'em and Iraq will settle down. This has been brewing for sometime now. We'll get this cleaned out and cleaned up and all will proceed to success. This is just an ugly little pimple that needs to be opened up and healed.

There was a Washington Post reporter just interviewed on CNBC. He had just hung up from a phone conversation with their embedded reporter-a woman whose name I cannot remember-with the marines in Fallujah. She said that they had been planning on re-taking the town for some time but they moved it up based on last week's deaths. She said they were very concerned about firing on mosques. One mosque they were able to take over without a lot of violence. The other-despite all efforts-they were forced to bomb. His report was that the Marines tried everything they could before they bombed it. They had been fired on from both and had suffered several injuries

Now they can reconstruct a "church or synagogue" on that vacant lot. Or Hooters! Maybe they just need to lighten up with decent food and attractive women in short shorts.
This is the first post I read today. Thanks for the laugh.

YES! YES! YES!
I am sick and tired of the old refrain "If we bomb them, they will hate us even more" crap.
Folks, they can't hate us more than they already do.
It's us...or them...who will survive...make your choice!

When islamonazis shoot from mosque... You're setting the bar too high. Don't withhold the shot simply because they're not shooting from the mosque! If the bad guys are using a mosque to plan attacks--that's enough. If bad guys "needin' killin'" are trying to hide in the mosque--that's enough.
If such a shot is likely to save the life of one American, is that not enough?

There are always appeasers in every nation. And I know there is a tendency to be very angry at Iraqi's who think that way. But all you have to do is look no futher than a current senate leader and brother of a former president to find appeasers here in the USA. Kennedy,Carter and Kerry are appeasers...
Why would we think that there would not be a lot of them in Iraq?
I would invite you to look at the number of appeasers in our own country during our revolutionary war. The Torries in the USA nearly equaled the revolutionaries.
The liberal press will play the Iraqi appeasers up big time. But that does not mean they will prevail. There was a lot of discussion about surrender in our own continental congress. It was not covered in thte history books. Benedict Arnold thought the appeasers were a majority and going to win. So do the appeasers in Iraq.
ITtis to be expected... and both our military and civilian leadership has certainly anticipated what is happening. Smart leaders anticipate and prepare for every eventuality. They just can't know which of the things they anticipate will actually happen.
Most of the militant Muslims believe that Allah would not allow the destruction of a Mosque .... especially with them in it. When we blow one a Mosque and the people in it the Militants can have just one of 2 conclusions. Allah did not think them worthy of saving or Allah does not exist. Once Religious zealots come to doubt their religious beliefs they are easily defeated.
They were absolutely certain we would not and could not bomb a Mosque. The fact that we did will shake their resolve and their faith in Allah.

I did miss your sarcasm, oops. As far as respect goes, I guess despite their souls defiling their bodies in life, I think repsecting the bodies in death is appropriate. Their souls will receive a proper "reward" for their evil, and I despise the sonsabitches as you do.
