A Pentagon source has said up to 130 US troops have been killed in fierce fighting in Iraq.
The large scale battle, described as "intense", has taken place in the town of Ar Ramadi, 20 miles west of Fallujah.
Sky News' David Chater said: "None of this is official yet - none of it is confirmed."
But he added: "It sounds very much like this is being carried out by men who are militarily trained."
Chater described the attack as "highly sophisticated".

Air Support FJ - THAT's what I am looking for also. Screw collateral damage when Marines start getting killed. And screw going from door to door for the perps of last week. They are all either perps now or potential perps.
Rant Down

John Gibson on Foxnews said a few minutes ago that commanders were pulling administrative soldiers out of a command post to fight. Yikes.
I think the bad guys must have attacked a command post.

USA needs to show overwhelming force now, they need to show just who is in control in Iraq.

Thanks. I'm going to try and call into the radio station, this needs to be defused. It's tragic enough that 12 of our boys got killed today.

This is a major battle. If we have high casulaties, the scum must be being hit big time. This could be their death rattle.
No one can stand and fight against our military. After this battle, the resistance will be decimated.
Even though we are taking higher casualties, it indicates that we have all the snakes in one hole. This will be for the best.

As bad as this is, it is now the perfect oppurtunity to wipe out both the Sunni's in the triangle and the radical Shi't clerics. This country is never going to be stable when you have leaders from these two factions, not only killing US soldiers, but each other. Take this oppurtunity and do what's needed to be done...they've opened the door.

Are you saying that the celebrations over at the DU were premature?

The presstitutes "lost" the Tet offensive in 1968 ... even though by the time the shooting slowed down again, VC had more or less ceased to exist.
Never forget.

Our commanders were pulling people who normally don't go into combat because the battle was so hot......Stresses the importance of taking the drills seriously, even if you're normally just a "desk jockey"

Agreed. I guess we hollered a little prematurely though. I just heard the news on the TV in the other room saying that our troops were going in under heavy air cover

Every Marine is a rifleman: they take that very seriously. You wouldn't want to let your USMC clerk/riflemen miss their chance on the firing line, would you?

A high body count is exactly what the Democrats are begging for. I can see them now - - in their minds they are pumping their fists and snarling, "Yessss...!"
