I wrote this the other day. Hope you don't mind me sharing it.
Good Job
I look at all that they have done,
They sure have done it fast.
Theyve started the rebuilding,
And Saddams time has past.
The people cheer our soldiers,
And wave as they go by.
The quagmires in John Kerrys mind,
Another libral lie.
No theyre not done but theyll prevail,
The terrorists will flee.
They owe it to our fighting force,
Iraq will soon be free.

The problem is that free democratic Iraqis may never be competent, motivated and ruthless enough to defend themselves against the radicals when called upon to do what our troops are doing right now, i.e. slaughter them.

It appeared in the Houston Chronicle--a reputable newspaper. The identity of the soldier no doubt has been checked and double checked.
To: Coop
Thanks for the ping! We need to see more of these type of letters from those on the front lines, not some reporters opinion on what is happening.
To: Buckhead
The letter sounds great, but a little too great. It sounds bogus to me, a put up job, like those e-mails from before. What are you talking about? This is completely consistent with reports coming out of Iraq. What's not to believe?

Houston Chronicle. Today. (Miracles happen!)

I'm a soldier with the U.S. Army serving in the 16th Combat Engineer Battalion in Baghdad.
The news you are hearing stateside is awfully depressing and negative. The reality is we are accomplishing a tremendous amount here, and the Iraqi people are not only benefiting greatly, but are enthusiastically supportive.
My job is mostly to be the driver of my platoon's lead Humvee. I see the missions our Army is performing, and I interact closely with the Iraqi people. Because of this, I know how successful and important our work is.

The various terrorist enemies we are facing in Iraq are really aiming at you back in the United States.
Exactly correct. This is a war not only against the military forces in Iraq, but against the very foundations of Western Democracy. We must not fail.

I am not personally in favor of the war in Iraq -- but we certainly do have a very excellent, very professional group of soldiers over there.

I think you did. ;)
