Bears highlighting:

A crowd of more than 300 people flooded into the streets. Men swarmed around the vehicles. Some witnesses said the Americans were still alive when one boy came running up with a jug of gasoline. Soon, both vehicles were fireballs.

"Everybody here is happy with this," Mr. Furhan, the taxi driver, said. "There is no question."

We can no more let Fallujah remain as it is than Richelieu could alllow the Huguenot cities to remain armed. The Sunni Arabs must know that they must pay the price of their pride.

Fallujah should be leveled. Tikrit, likewise. Everbody who resists should be killed. Everbody else should be resettled in single family groups among friendly populations: Kurds, Shiites, etc. Let their neighbors know what sort of folks are moving in, and that we won't investigate too closely if they disappear.

Allow non-Sunni, non-Baathist Iraqis to move back into the Triangle area after re-settlement is complete.

A lot of folks working in German factories were French, Dutch, etc. They were not there voluntarily.

If ya as me, at this stage, massive collateral damage is DESIRABLE. 'Bout time they found out that, if you are with us, we don't give a d@mn about you, either.

You'll have to pardon me if I have a slightly different perspective on the whole "massive collateral damage" thing. I have valid reasons for that.

Besides, there are other ways to do it, and our armed forces will get it done.

NO MARINES RESPONDED WHEN WE KNEW THE ATTACK WAS HAPPENING

Yes, Why? And in the immediate aftermath, the revellers should have been subjected to a withering barrage from copters or something.

It has now been 24 hours.

Our response now is virtually irrelevant. The pictures have had their impact. The jihadis and others are jubiliant. I know, wait for the measured response. Amazing how all our highpriced highly educated muckymucks so badly misunderstand the mindset. The bodies were retrieved, apart from the missing parts by Iraki police. IMO, somebody, military, CPA, effed up badly.

"... one boy came running up with a jug of gasoline...a group of boys tore the corpses out of the vehicles. The crowd cheered them on. The boys dragged the blackened bodies ..."
The report in post 33 states that "boys" did most of the mutililation after the contracters were killed. But the video clearly shows men doing the damage. Why the report on "boys?"

There were a lot of boys around but it does look like men did most of the actual mutilating. I don't know why they would report that it was mainly done by boys unless they think that's more dramatic or something. There is one boy around the age of 10 standing on the head of one of the Americans while taunting Bush. They can call them boys if they want but those aren't the same kind of boys as most Americans think of.

I had never seen a corpse when I was that age. The thought of of seeing one wasn't appealing to me either. I definitely wasn't going around playing with mutilated corpses like these kids. We have to forget their ages when we are dealing with them, because they are not the same as kids over here. They are brutal scum like their parents and I doubt they will ever have anything positive to give Iraq or the World. They should all be dealt with the same, which should be severely.

There are massive humanitarian deliveries of food and medicine to the Iraqis which started immediately after the first Iraqi port was secured and are continuing to this day.

The Pentagon has taken the lead in providing security for the huge transport convoys against the terrorists who have been trying to disrupt these deliveries of humanitarian supplies.

The logistics trains for supplies for our troops are distinct from this action.

Check the CENTCOM web site for more information that you won't get from the lamestream media.

Since the war in Iraq began, Falluja has been a flash point of violence. Of all the places in Iraq, it is where anti-American hatred is the strongest. The area is predominantly Sunni Muslim. Many families remain loyal to the captured dictator, Mr. Hussein, who is also a Sunni Muslim. Over the years, Mr. Hussein cultivated a network of patronage and privilege among the tribes and elders of Falluja.

Things are going to be changing in this town. They think they've had it tough before? The Marines, our Army, our President, our people, and Rummy will not stand for this. I would love to be in on the planning for this upcoming operation, and would gladly join its execution.

Perhaps you are right about the way we need to handle this area. We'll have to see if we get any cooperation from locals before deciding that, though the "taxi driver" doesn't make me confident we'll get much.
