Sen. John Kerry (D-MA) will undergo elective surgery on his right shoulder tomorrow that will prevent him from working rope lines for a couple weeks and from holding up kissable babies for even longer.
Kerry will wear a sling for a day or two after a 45 minute outpatient surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital to repair a torn rotator cuff, said his surgeon, Dr. Bertram Zarins.
Kerry tore the tendon in January in the Iowa Primary tyring to brace himself when his campaign bus lurched suddenly.
Zarins said that Kerry 'still cannot use the shoulder without pain.'
Kerry, who underwent successful prostate cancer surgery last year, will likely undergo general anesthesia as an incision of about 2 inches is made to repair the tendon.
Kerry first hurt the shoulder in 1992 in a bicycle accident.
The Kerry camp released a letter from Dr. Gerald Doyle, Kerry's primary physician, saying the senator, 'has enjoyed general excellent health.'

The injury should match the fact that he will soon have his ass in a sling, politically.

He doesn't fall down.

It was that SOB behind him snowboarding---all his fault!

The Dems noticed that Kerry's poll numbers went up when he was vacationing in Idaho and not hitting the campaign trail - and as soon as he comes back, the polls drop again.
So, they figure that they need to keep this guy's mouth shut and out of the public eye to get the poll numbers back up.

He couldn't finagle a fourth Purple Heart out of this, could he? The injury is a lot more severe than anything he got in Vietnam, after all.

In his television appearances I have never seen even the slightest grimest? I seen him raise his arms over his head with Edwards, seen reach to shake hands, never once seen the slighest indication of pain. Hmmm... I wonder what painkillers he is taking?

No, the surgery was mentioned before the vacation. At that time, the surgery was supposed to be a couple months from now.
Do a search, there were several threads running over the past 2 or 3 weeks.

According to reporters, Kerry said the wall of the bus "slammed" into Kerry's hand on purpose. Kerry went on to call the bus an SOB.
In related news, Naomi Wolf has accused the late Albert Einstein of sexual harassment. "I never met the man," said Wolf, "but I feel sure he harassed me somewhere along the way. If you'll excuse me, I need to go write my latest column."

I wonder how many calls hoping for the worst will come from his opponents. None, of course; we're better than that. Yet you people all remember the hoping and wishing for the worst going on from the other side when Secretary Powell went in for cancer? I remember them well.
I wish Kerry all the best. I hope he's in the best of health when he goes against the big guy, President Bush.
He'll need to be.

Says since the Kerry camp is offering up medical information no one really asked for, maybe they should also provide the medical information that has been requested by so many. Apparently providing medical information is OK based on this press release.

Well, he has to be out of the public eye for a few days every six weeks for his .... treatments. Can't be seen in public with a paralyzed face, after all.
But I agree, the more this guy stays out of the public eye, the better he does. Since most of the people voting for Kerry are really just voting against President Bush, this is not really a suprise. If the 'Rats could put "Un-named Democrat" on the November ballot, they might actually have a chance!
