FR DNS problems...
today

DNS lookups failing for FR here - no such host. Apparently I'm not the only one, judging from a glance at the Yahoo FR board. Dunno if it's my ISP (Verizon) or what, but I had to manually edit the hosts file to get here. Presumably, if you can post, you're not having this problem, but there are more than a few people who can't post right now because of it...

Just seems too much of a coincidence that first we have the troll trying to plant a virus and within 24 hours this.....

Interesting link. I had never heard of such that Farking website until you posted it. Now I see that they're quoting...me. Must be a slow news day!

Geesh! Yesterday, when I clicked my FR bookmark, it started the download manager. Today, I got a "server not found" message. Being persistent I googled for a back door...and here I am for my daily fix.

Interesting link. I had never heard of such that Farking website until you posted it. Now I see that they're quoting...me. Must be a slow news day! Fark.com is great ... I have been a poster there for a while ... it is less political than FR ... mostly just fun and funny with some good photoshop contests. There are lots of left wing veggies there, but they are kids mostly, so I forgive 'em.

Here are some links to the progress of yesterday's FReeper actions during the 9/11 Commission hearing yesterday, a sort of snapshot as things developed. The second to last one is just a humorous response to the jerk who posted a link that contained a virus. (His post was subsequently removed, of course.) The last one details Kristinn's superb FReeping:
At present, that link should be:
http://209.157.64.200/focus/news/1104313/posts?page=1692#1692:Kristinn, co-leader of DC Chapter, went to the site of hearings and asked me to post this for him:
On my lunch hour, I made some copies of the transcript of Clarke's August 2002 background briefing that was released by Fox News today and brought them over to the Hart Senate Office Building where the 9/11 Commission hearings are taking place.
The hearing was in lunch recess so I worked the room trying to get the transcript into the hands of as many reporters as I saw. They were very receptive when I described what it was I had. Only one reporter dismissed it as Clarke 'giving the administration line.' The rest were very interested in it.
I ran into a Fox News producer outside the room. She told me she had a copy and asked who I was with. I told her Free Republic.
I had to leave after that. I went over there figuring the lazy press wouldn't have it yet. That turned out to be true. Wish I could have stayed but I don't get paid to be a FReeper. EAGLES UP !!! - BillF (for kristinn)

Lurking since earlier today. Knew something was up after FR was down for over 30 minutes. Googled my screen name and a couple links turned up with the server address. Checked one out, and the rest was easy to follow.
Checked my OWN hosting contact info and had to update a couple things. Something stinks about this episode on FR, though.

I am having the same trouble with "MyYahoo" search Bar, it keeps saying can't find DNS.
No matter what I do it keep reverting back to DNS trouble is this serious to our presonal ID?
To: plewis1250
John Rob DID contact GKG this morning. He said they had some discrepancy in some number and did not check with FR to straighten it out. . They also did not notifiy FR, but just cut them off, even though the registration in paid until sometime in 2006.
In a later note, John also said that they have it straightened out now, but it will take some time for the entire country to get FR back again.
I'm in the NE, and it's only thanks to a Freeper on Yahoo that I found the address to get on now.

Thanks for the information, but I am barely able to turn on my computer, so I just don't have a clue how to do this. I have an iMac too, so I guess it might be different.
