Jim Engle explained how deep-background tapes can become 'background' which translates to 'for the record,' by going back to the source for permission.
Clarke gave the briefing as a representative of the Exec Branch, so they could give permission for the release of the contents.
Naturally the dems will spin that this is 'troubling.'

tomorrow they will do a poll of the confidence people have with Bush regardin ghis ability to deal with terrorism. It has been at 60% steady, the poll will drop into the 30% range.Oh, they will try, of course... that is what this entire circus is about... destroying Bush's strongest political asset, which is execution of the war on terrorism.

I wonder how much the DNC had to pay Clarke. Was he given a 'guaranteed number sales' or some other form of payoff?

He did say that they were going in the right direction, that he was the type of person that wanted things done now, so some of the delays bothered him too. He has disagreements with clarke, he is answering every honest.

Have you seen the ratings for the nightly newscasts? They're spiraling down into the dumper. Why do you think FNC's ratings are climbing? Folks have caught on. And even if people do still watch them, they know better than to take them as gospel now. The shine is well and truly off the apple.

I'm listening to Armitage. He just seems like an honest, down-to-earth guy. Gorelick managed to yet again swat Condi Rice. I switched over from FNC to MSNBC when they started touting Neil Cavuto's EXCLUSIVE interview with NANCY PELOSI!

thanks for the update. Not sure I'm having much of a break watching Pelosi tell Cavuto how we didn't do a good job in Afghanistan.

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States (also known as the 9-11 Commission), an independent, bipartisan commission created by congressional legislation and the signature of President George W. Bush in late 2002, is chartered to prepare a full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, including preparedness for and the immediate response to the attacks. The Commission is also mandated to provide recommendations designed to guard against future attacks.

Well, if folks are watching FNC during these live hearings, they're not getting the complete picture. CNN is kicking a$$ over FNC during the afternoon IMHO.
