Has anyone said why Clarke gets a full hour more than Tenet or anyone else? To promote his book, my guess.

Clinton didn't sign the order prohibiting assassinations against foreign leaders, it was done I believe under the Ford administration.
However, Osama is not a foreign leader of any country I know of and I still to this day do not accept that executive order as a reason to not have taken him out.

Someone posted yesterday that Wilmer, Cutler (Gorelick's firm) is representing a Saudi prince being sued by families of 9/11 victims In all fairness, the Bush administration itself is opposed to the lawsuits by the 9-11 victims. Ted Olson is point man on that.
I disagree with Gorelick's firm, and the White House on this one. The Saudis need to be exposed.
To: Timeout
Jamie Gorelick was probably STILL looking for "actionable intelligence" when the second tower fell.

"We put the memos on the floor by his [Clinton's] desk where he was sure to see it. We have several of those here which appear to have um, errr, coffee and tobacco stains on them."
Filing gets tough, especially when the pages are stuck together, which happens quite often.
To: Howlin
Yes.
Oh, now she is quoting the Woodward book.
To: Howlin
thanks, I am keeping a copy of that handy, Just imagine if this morning it was Woosley testifying to this instead of Tenet.
To: Timeout
But somehow appropriate.

"..this way she can assure herself that she goes on AFTER Clarke and refute his line of bull."
I thought the same thing - make them plead that you speak before the commission, stall them, and then when you appear make them sorry they asked you.
However, she really should not be forced to testify since she is an advisor to the President, not a cabinet member.
To: maica
won't happen -- commissions are a creature of the legislature. We control and will continue to control both houses of Congress.

I was just sitting here thinking that all these people have already talked to this committee -- and you can rest assured what we're hearing here are the "talking point" agenda questions.
I'm just wondering WHO is going to put OUR side out.

I'd be peeved if I had to testify in front of this group!
Tenet only has one ax to grind here, and its the CIA's. The CIA doesn't like when it isn't listened to with rapt attention, which is why Tenet sometimes hits the President with those digs. Its business, not personal. Tenet has done a good job leading a crippled CIA, but knows this President isn't the one who crippled it.
Clarke, however, is a dispicable swine who betrayed the country and this President. Feral pigs wouldn't dine on such a filthy person.

actually I think Ford signed it after the Church hearings and Bush did away with it after 9/11. Which means that the Clinton adminstrations claims they wanted to assassinate Bin Laden means they were engaging in illegal acts.
To: ohioWfan
No explanation of that forthcoming. They probably want to prove they've read all of his book and have what they consider as ammunition to bash Bush.
