Come on, everyone. This is no different than when we were up in arms over all the bad press surrounding Cheney's a-hole remark. I think we can only take the personality issue so far. The flip-flopping is important to point out, but we can't rely on that, because people are starting to complain about what's happening at the gas pump -- that HAS to be addressed before the summer....

It looks a little different to me. I cannot find any instance of Cheney calling a Secret Service agent an SOB. As best I can tell, no Clymer has signed up to offer to have himself KILLED instead of Kerry in the event he can stop it.

I'd agree if it weren't essentially a bodyguard that Kerry was dissing. It goes to his disdain for uniform type services, even if they are there to protect him.

It was Bush to Cheney about a New York Times reporter, said near an open mike, and Cheney--having excellent perception--agreed with GWB's tart assessment.
This situation here was a complete accident where the agent and Kerry collided, and instead of treating the incident and the agent graciously, with humor and in stride, Kerry tells a reporter (for pete's sake) that he doesn't fall ("I don't fall") and calls the agent that name.
Sorry, but except for cussing, I don't see one bit of equivalence and I am appalled that one who would be president would treat a Secret Service agent, who is paid to protect this man with his very life, in such a manner.

Bush and Cheney got caught inadvertently on an open mike calling Clymer a name. Kerry told reporters that he thought the Secret Service agent was an SOB. Big difference!

Frankly, when this war started a year ago, I expected higher prices at the pump. For one thing, the freaking liberals just cannot bring themselves to drill any wells off the coasts, or in ANWR. For another thing, the new refinery regulations are so bad there will probably never be another one built.
Not to mention the fact that we've all known forever that Venezuela, one of our leading oil suppliers, is run by the maniac Chavez, who is good buddies with Saddam, and who is currently the head of OPEC.
So, I just have to say that the gas prices didn't rise as soon or as much as I thought they would. I won't be much surprised if gas goes over $2, and it won't bother me if it does. War requires sacrifice. I guess you forgot about gas rationing--or didn't know about it.
I hope that addresses the issue for you, which was NOT the subject of the thread, that freaking rude bleep Kerry is.

Yeah right. I stay up night keeping track of the price of gas. It may be right up there in the DNC talking points, but I have more serious things to keep me awake.
Were you

Good luck.

Clymer is a
reporter,a REPORTER FOR THE N.Y.TIMES;not a Secret Service guy. There IS a big difference! And in case you are unaware of it, there's also quite a difference between calling someone a SOAB and a "clymer".
You're the one with the problem.
To: Rutles4Ever
Sorry, but you are wrong! I do not want anyone... ANYONE in the role of Commander-in-Chief of the United States Military that changes his positions depending on which way the "political wind" is blowing! The gas pump issue will be addressed but quite frankly I find it to be a bit hypocritical when the same person starts bitching about $2 a gallon for gas but has no problem banging out $5.00 for their morning latte....

This is no different than when we were up in arms over all the bad press surrounding Cheney's a-hole remark. It most certain IS different. Cheney's comment was about a reporter who never missed a chance to make snide comments about Cheney or the President. Kerry made his comment about a man who he does not employ, but is assigned to him for his own protection. That's gratitude for ya!

Nah, I thought that was funny and deserved.
Now if Cheney had said that or worse as Kerry did about a Secret Service agent - I would have been just as offended...and I love Dick Cheney.
I don't want Kerry anywhere near the Oval Office - it was tarnished enough during the 90s.
