The Peace Martyr: What Rachel Corrie Means to the Left
Adam Yoshida weblog ^ | 16 March 2004 | Adam Teiichi Yoshida

Posted on 03/16/2004 7:28:54 AM PST by Lando Lincoln

It was a year ago today (March 16, 2003) that Rachel Corrie, traitor and terrorist supporter, was dispatched to Hell while attempting to defend the home of a terrorist from an Israeli bulldozer. Since that time she’s becoming something of a martyr to those on the left, a sort of symbol for their cause. Rachel, some of them will tearfully tell you, gave her life for peace. And so she did. The question is what sort of a peace they mean.

“Peace,” the Soviets used to say, “ultimately means communist world rule.” This is something close to the attitude of those who cry for “peace” today. The International Solidarity Movement, the group to which Rachel Corrie belongs, cries for peace while it shelters suicide bombers. It promotes the principles of non-violence by using its members to guard tunnels that smuggle explosives used by suicide bombers and cutting holes in fences designed to stop terrorists from murdering Israeli children on their way to school. If the ISM, and their ilk, gets their way there will be “peace” in Israel: in that brief interval between the death of the last Jew and when the Arabs start killing eachother.

Let’s tell the truth: the majority of “peace” activists aren’t for peace at all, they’re for victory by the other side. They want us to lay down our arms, not our enemies to lay down theirs as well. These are the same people who, during the Cold War, thought we could end the whole thing if only the West got rid of their nuclear weapons while the Soviets kept all theirs. And it would have ended it too, I suppose.

It’s time to tell the truth about our dear friend Rachel: she was nothing less than a solider of the enemy. She was impeding fully legitimate Israeli military operations and acting in support of the enemies of Israel. She had been ordered to move, but refused. Israel had every lawful right to simply shoot her, if it wished to do so. There’s no right to protest in a war zone. To postulate that one exists is an absurdity.

Rachel Corrie is regarded as a martyr by the left not because she died for “peace”, but because she died fighting their Zionist enemies. She simply did what most of them were too frightened to do: she stood up against Israel on a battlefield. If peace activists were truly interested in “peace”, they’d be riding on Israeli buses to attempt to deter homicide bombings, or at least doing something to try and protect the Israeli people from the murderous assault of a savage people.

There’s a strange spirit afoot in this world. This struggle against the terrorists is to be a difficult one, and there are only two sides in it. Those self described advocates of “peace” have chosen their side, it would seem.

It seems harsh to say it, but Rachel Corrie deserved to die. An enemy of our civilization and, indeed of all decent human beings, not a day before her death she was busy burning the American flag amid a crowd of America’s enemies. She was a solider of our enemies, we should feel no compunction over dispatching her to a well-earned final reward then we do over the destruction of garden-variety al-Qaeda members.

The activists and our enemies are one and the same. Whatever distinctions which once existed between them are disappearing. The terrorist and the activist work towards the very same goal: the destruction of American power and of the State of Israel.

This is what “peace” means to them: an end to American strength. While they may have different end goals (for example, I don’t imagine that most of the homosexuals among the activists look forward to being stoned to death by Islamists. Perhaps a few do, but not most), however, their short-term goals are exactly the same. The activists cannot build their post-modern paradise with the Americans and Israel about and the Islamist can’t institute worldwide Shairah law.

We need to understand what these activists, such as Rachel Corrie, are fighting for. There’s a widespread misapprehension about that we ought to respect these people because they’re “idealistic”. Nonsense. They’re agents of the enemy.

Look at the recent arrest of a former Democratic Congressional aide who passed information on to the Iraqi intelligence services. I doubt if any more than a fraction of self-described activists would do differently if given the chance. They’re out to undermine and destroy America’s power in the world.

Frankly, I think it’s time that we begin to purge some of these people from positions where they can endanger America’s future. Given all the tears shed for Rachel Corrie, I cannot help but conclude that her confederates are strewn throughout the government and other vital sectors.

This is a democratic society and people are, of course, free to hold whatever opinions they like. We ought not be throwing people in jail simply for thoughts. But that doesn’t mean we ought to employ them in our public services or let them teach in our schools. The advent of loyalty oaths would, in and of itself, weed out some of the more annoying and ardent activists.

Burn in Hell, Rachel Corrie and all like you.

I don't know if I'm doing this right, I think it's only my 2nd time ever posting here. In case I'm royally messing it up, I am attempting to reply to the article Lando Lincoln posted by Adam.

I can see it now how any liberals would react to this. They will basically ignore the content of the post and the simple logic, and focus on the wording. They will attack it for hate rhetoric and compare it to McCarthyism. Which is why I would recommend Adam tone it down. It's not that I don't agree with his essay 100%, I do; however, as eloquent as he is I believe he could write this same article in words that would leave the liberals nothing to attack BUT the content and logic. There, as you know, they would fail miserably.

By the way, I usually post on another forum and I've heard SOME (haven't read the manual yet) of the lesser indoctrinated liberals actually come out and say they believe the answer to world peace is to weaken (Clinton closed HOW many military bases, and sold WHAT to China?) America till it is no longer a superpower (Kerry has voted HOW often AGAINST intelligence spending and FOR intelligence cuts?). They also want America to become no richer than any other nation, they believe we should be taxed as much as European nations. (is that 50% on average?). Does it take a rocket scientist to realize they want to tax us so heavily so they can send all our money to other countries?

Your point (and post) is well made. The tone and tenor of the "rhetoric" is how the left dismisses the likes of Ann Coulter. They can't win on logic.

Adam's right ! These people don't give a da** about peace.

They want us to surrender to tyranny.

This is how Pelosi's San Francisco constituents "Support" the troops (March 2003) ...

Here is a link to the SF-IMC site where these FAR LEFT LIBERALS posted an actual pic (above) of one of their Support Saddam/Terrorists events in March, 2003 and changed the image when I posted/linked it to an FR thread. The pic at the top of that link of 2 Allied Soldiers transporting a prisoner to Gitmo was what they changed it to . . .

These folks at San Francisco Indy-Media are terrorist supporters . . .

Oh, the lurkers on FR from SF-IMC CANNOT change that picture (above) now since it is hosted by FR friendly sources !

I respectfully disagree. The liberals will call anyone opposing them fascist and nazi regardless of the tone of the comments. Being polite to them is just seen as a sign of weakness, and is something they couldn't imagine reciprocating. When they lie, we need to call them on it, bluntly. Say, "That's a lie, and you know it." When they trot out their standard litany (I'm using that word precisely) of socialist arguments we need to say, "Your positions make no sense logically, economically, or politically. They can only be viewed as the tenets of a secular religion, socialism. It's been proven to be a false religion many times over during the 20th Century; perhaps you should examine your beliefs against the evidence of the world, if you're capable of doing so."

This is precisely what the Liberal/Militant EnvironMental Movement has done in all levels of our new "evolved" American "Multi-Level Marketing Government!" Now they consider "The People" a mere "down-line!"

Especially in their "War on the West" and particularly in CA where it all started. Now they are doing a full court press to lock-up the entire Sierra-Nevada mountain range and watershed (most of eastern CA) in another additional layer of government called a "Conservancy!"

It's a full court press that's even ensnared our new Republican Governator in the push to cleanse Conservatism from this beautiful "Range of Light" refuge from Liberalism! They use the infection of fear so well in indoctrinating everyone from Rachel Corrie, to Arnold Schwarzenegger!!!

He should write it more along the lines of the movie "The Passion"... That would leave the liberals nothing to attack...

"Rachel Corrie deserved to die"

No, her professors at The Evergreen State College (I'm so "proud" of my alma mater) deserve it. She deserved a good piggy wacking. Though I'm new to the angle "she stood in front of explosives smuggling tunnels" and if she really did this, then she might have been an enemy combatant to the Israelis.

Doubt she (like a lot of young "protestors") really understood the gravity of her behavior.

I used to protest - quite the guerrilla street theater liberal really. As students at Evergreen, we were immersed in the stuff. I didn't really stop to consider what I was doing until a few years later. Then I was like "what was I thinking?!" I talk with a lot of Evergreen alumni who have had the same experience (my brothers, included, 3 of us went to Evergreen). A lot of former "Greeners" are pretty conservative now. Some of us like to go onto campus when we're in town and scribble wisdom on some of the socialist flyers we see around campus.

A very nice peaceful organization it appears. Thank you for posting this revealing photo. Not much seems to have changed since Senator John Kerry was doing this while on a active duty as a Admiral's office flunky at the Brooklyn Navy Yard and falsely signing out on October 15, 1970 to fly radical anti-war protest organizers to a so-called moratorium which was just a polite coverup word for terrorist rally.

John Kerry will never wash the blood of many thousands on his hands. Kerry was dangerous self serving opportunist in Viet Nam, in his shadowy VVAW band in the early 1970's then and even more dangerous now as a US Senator who killed much of our intelligence and military and seeks to turn over the sovereignty of America to the United Nations.

Doubt that? Books that John Kerry himself has gladly endorsed prove that Kerry's own Vietnam Veterans Against the War plotted and voted in November 1971 at a Kansas City VVAW executive committee on assassinating six US Senators in Washington DC. Surely you knew that already.

Kerry's Socialist internationalist agenda is a malignant cancerous growth that must be cut out now before it infects more of America and the world. The health of the USA's freedoms and liberties and your children is at stake Judgement Day is here.

Do you really want a Bali or a Madrid in your hometown? John Kerry tells us it is only a law enforcement problem. Kerry tells the public that first responders are our first priority.

Those brave EMS, police, and fireman. The ones who show up when you are dead?
