Get Yer Ya-Yas Out [FR Moderating Gripe Thread]

[history]
LM here.
It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.
I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.
I've seen allegations that certain factions are picked on. I've seen allegations that the moderators have killed activism. I've heard rumors that we killed Kenny, and even that we killed the radio star. I see certain personality conflicts acting up, and know that one (or both) sides in it feel that we aren't doing what we should.
So let's open this can of worms.
This thread is for making your grievances heard. If you think something stinks or is wrong, make your case here. Back it up with facts. Let the audience at large weigh in on your evidence.
I'll read the thread. Jim will too in all likelihood. So will the other moderators. Depending upon how well you make your point, and depending on if you can convince Jim, me, the other moderators, and/or the world, maybe you can change things. And if you don't, then it might make you feel better to have vented, so it won't make this thread a total loss.
I'm not going to reply to this thread for quite a while. Rather, I am going to sit back and watch to try and get a feel for the general tenor. I encourage those who are both happy and unhappy with things to particpate in this thread.
Let's rock.

That one is posted to the humor category of news. While it could have as easily gone in chat, it is not misposted

There is always another avenue of appeal. You can either email Jim at Jimrob@psnw.com or you can mail webmaster@freerepublic.com (which John gets but he passes on to his dad when appropriate).
Thanks, LM

Hear, hear. That's chat room fodder, for sure.

Thanks, I didn't know that, I had searched all over the site in vain for an email address. It would have been nice to have been provided in the screen that popped up when I went to post to the offended moderator. It would probably work with greater efficiency if a special "appeals" email box were set up.
I don't question the right of the mods to do what they do, or even to be a bit capricious about it, but I do feel that longtime Freepers have the right to at least take up the cause with someone who can see a dispute with a fresh set of eyes.

1. What is the best way to Make Friends and Influence People?
2. If I, or anyone else do not take advantage of this YA-YAS Out opportunity NOW, do I forfeit any chance in the nearby future to get my YA-YAS Out at any time I chose?
3. Was Fred Mertz banned?

If you're going to get your YA-YAS Out, Miss Neets, kindly warn me first so I may avert my eyes in order not to be overcome by some evil lust. Thank you.

Well, I am normally not a discontent, but nothing ventured, nothing gained.
All one need do is simply mention Rachel Corrie, and you can hear the champagne corks pop.
The viciousness and inhumanity of those threads are shameful and denigrating to a forum that has such a high profile.
Is there any difference in the genocide being preached on those threads from any other sort of genocide preached in the world?

or is the person just using an aol acct?Oh no, the dreaded "dynamic IP". ;D I think there is more than one Insider troll, because I've seen this stuff on other boards lately, but I also think we have one very determined individual who keeps coming back.

That one is posted to the humor category of news. While it could have as easily gone in chat, it is not misposted OK, now you've got me confused. So *anything* funny, even non-news-related, can arguably stay in News as long as it's confined to the humor topic?
This politically oriented satire post of mine -- which I put only in the 'humor' topic of News/Activism, if I remember correctly -- was quickly moved to chat. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1096265/posts. The same thing was done to another political post before it. I am fairly scrupulous about not putting posts in inappropriate categories. Should I have been posting those in 'chat' to begin with? If so, why is a list of humorous doctor misunderstandings more newsworthy?

Jim,
Would you consider putting up a similar technical complaint thread?
Besides suggestions for improvements that have been made here, there are bugs that can be reported.
For example, a search 'By Poster' is not limited to the Forum searched. When I search in Chat, Smokey Backroom, etc. all posts for that FReeper come up. I get "This thread has been moved to [whichever Forum it was originally posted to]"

I would like to be able to post from political blogs in News/Activism. Some blogs are banned to Chat/General Interest.
This is an evil mod conspiracy that demonstrates an sine quo non FR bias.

I looked at Sen. Kerry and his wife Tearayzaaa.
I came up with "Waffles and Nuts."
Can I start a franchise on FR?
