It's been a while since we had a thread along these lines.

I can tell from comments I am seeing in threads, on abuse reports, and in Freepmail that some people are unhappy with various policies and their implementations by the staff here.

I've seen allegations that certain factions are picked on. I've seen allegations that the moderators have killed activism. I've heard rumors that we killed Kenny, and even that we killed the radio star. I see certain personality conflicts acting up, and know that one (or both) sides in it feel that we aren't doing what we should.

So let's open this can of worms.

This thread is for making your grievances heard. If you think something stinks or is wrong, make your case here. Back it up with facts. Let the audience at large weigh in on your evidence.

I'll read the thread. Jim will too in all likelihood. So will the other moderators. Depending upon how well you make your point, and depending on if you can convince Jim, me, the other moderators, and/or the world, maybe you can change things. And if you don't, then it might make you feel better to have vented, so it won't make this thread a total loss.

I'm not going to reply to this thread for quite a while. Rather, I am going to sit back and watch to try and get a feel for the general tenor. I encourage those who are both happy and unhappy with things to particpate in this thread.

Here's a gripe. Last night, I remembered to look around at other places and found two fantastic discussions about Private Property rights. In the old days of Free Republic, those topics were the essence of this site.

Recently, I get bored reading the repetitious, often inane, banal, threads on our front page. If you want to breathe a little intellectuality back into FR, I suggest you put those serious posts back on the front page under latest posts and create a backroom for all the other crap, like celebrity trials.

No complaints here! One only has to look at the foul language and wacky ideas on DU to see what we would be like without mods.

I have a question for the mods... I little bit ago, the issue came up that when threads get too big, they are too slow loading when the moderators have to get in them to delete posts.

We at the Hobbit Hole liked to run our threads to the limit, and hardly ever need moderating so it rarely has come up before, unless it is now a rule to not let it get too big. We were asked to start a new threads early the last two times... presumably because of this issue.

Folk there hate to move, but we don't want to be a bother either. Question is, how big is too big? We'd move without being told if we knew.

I would like to set up a Memorial Day rally in NY and elsewhere to mourn our dead and to have a civil protest asking to see Kerry's war records.

Our veterans will tell the media what their purple hearts a re for. So how come a presidential candidate cannot show his.
