Hip-hop star Ice Cube has blamed former American President Ronald Reagan for the gradual decline of the nation's inner cities.
The rapper-turned-actor believes that since former screen star Reagan took on his reigning role in 1981, things have only taken a continual turn for the worse in America's urban areas - with no president after him making any moves to address it.
He says, "I haven't been happy with any president domestically, because the inner cities keep getting worse.
"When Reaganomics came in, everything left. Everything that kept us halfway decent and off the streets was gone. The parks started getting taken over by gangs.
"There was no more Pop Warner football, no more baseball. Since then, nothing has ever been put back. No one helps the inner city. All the presidents fail when it comes to that."

Reagan caused all the out of wedlock births.
Reagan made these poor men not marry the mother(s) of their many children.
Of course, it is so clear to me now.
To: Bluntpoint
Yes, it has nothing to do with lazy, immoral people who expect everything for nothing.

Don't forget that he also played a crucial role in having them sell crack to one another - and then spend the proceeds on meaningless things such as speakers and shiny wheels.

But.....but.....but......the "First Black President" opened an office in Harlem. Didn't that fix everything?

It seems to me that LBJ's term in office really started to see the decline of the inner cities. The whiners inherited traditionally poor, but relatively intact and functional communities, then proceeded to burn them down or form gangs to do the job for them. How much money has been pumped into the inner cities since LBJ? And why do most decent people want out?

"He says, "I haven't been happy with any president domestically, because the inner cities keep getting worse."Hey swizzle stick ...
If the freak'n inner cities are bad and keep getting bad the problem lies with the present people, not the past ones.
Either the pols you elected haven't been right or the people you would like to see helped aren't right.
It ain't you, babe .... Oh No ... you got your cush job in Hellywood, and as an outsider lookin' in, you see all of this trouble and problem.
Maybe you're facin' the reality that you ain't much of an influence after all and all you can do is whine, whine, whine.
You're such a piece of $h!t.

Didn't one particular black mayor get caught smoking crack with a prostitute....get kicked out of office....only to get re-elected again?

I know another black mayor who boasted about fathering a child out of wedlock, when he was in his 70s. (Coleman Young)

I think the rats prefer this situation. It gives them something to whine about to get elected. I'll give you this, you need this blah blah blah.
I worked in Manhattan during Dickens and then during Rudy. I had to occasionally walk down to another office from 5th and 42nd to 42nd and 8th. During Dickens I was harassed and I saw someone get arrested for a vile with white stuff in it. There was a nice young lady in maybe her late teens early twenties sitting in her urine. It was porn road. I told my boss I'm not walking that any longer. Rudy came in and cleaned that area up. There is only one way. Tough way. Rudy made it unacceptable. I wonder what will happen now that he's gone.
I wonder what this dope does to help those inner cities.

Perhaps the inner city listening to rap/hip hop, idolizing NBA stars and so called leaders such as Jesse Jackson, are behind the gradual decline of the inner cities.

How about some honorable black leadership who preaches responsibility? How about getting into your own communities and making things work?

It was actually Ice-T who did that. Ice Cube made the
Barbershop movies. He must be doing penance for the controversy that erupted over the Rosa Parks and Jesse HiJackson comments made by Cedric the Entertainer's character in the first movie.
Maybe if these rap zillionaires would invest in their communities instead of building gaudy ho-filled cribs well away from the hood, and wearing half of Ft. Knox bling blings, things would improve. (Someone smack me for being logical.)
