IMHO, talking, dicussing, debating and exchanging information isn't silly. That's how the uninformed (like me) become informed.

Also, TGIFridays and Boston Market are also owned by Heinz.

Can't anybody here play this game? No, Heinz does not own TGIFridays. Heinz does not own Boston Market either. And in any case, Theresa Heinz Kerry doesn't have anything to do with Heinz.

This is probably the worst thread I have ever seen on Free Republic in terms of people shooting BS into the air without having the slightest idea what they're talking about. This one ought to come with a warning label: "Half the stuff you'll read on this thread is useless blather posted by people who can't be bothered to check whether what they say is true."

hmmm... wonder what John Heinz III (GOP Senator) expired from? Were there many tears at the funeral?

An incredibly stupid airplane accident. His machine's landing gear light didn't go on (these lights indicate that the wheels are down -- kinda big part of your landing checklist). A helicopter pilot nearby offered to fly up close to the plane and check. Heinz's charter pilots okayed it. He flew too close... everyone on both planes, and some people on the ground (3?) lost their lives.

None of the pilots (there were two on each craft) had had any formation flying training. It's something that looks easy when military or airshow pros do it, but really needs special training to do. To put it in terms that make sense to the 98% of you who don't fly, it's kinda like the way we can all drive a pickup truck, but would have a heck of a time backing up an 18 wheeler like a pro driver.

The investigation, by the way, showed that the landing gear were fine, it was the light that was bad, AND on that type plane you can't tell if they are in a safe condition by looking at them from another plane, anyway, even if you are the mechanic who works on that landing gear!

Most of the names FReepers won't recognise are the Massachusetts Congressional delegation:

CAPUANO, FRANK, MCGOVERN, MEEHAN, NEAL, TIERNEY are Massachusetts Congressmen. Dunno why Delahunt, Olver and Lynch aren't represented here, they must be broke.

I dunno who Cohen, Doyle, Evans, Sanders and Sherman are; they may have been unsuccessful candidates. As I understand the law (and my understanding could well be wrong), they can stiff their creditors and hand out any remaining cash in campaign funds to other pols.

Riegele and Wofford are Pennsylvania Democratis pols.

It looks like John IV is the only decent one of the bunch. I'll bet he's on the outs with his brothers.

What is the whore's (his mother) maiden name? And what do other members of the Heinz family think of her?

I assume that I am one of "those people" who are advocating a boycott. I have only posted that I would stop buying Heinz products. what others do is their business. Since this multi-thread discussion has started, I've been trying to inform myself (in great part, thanks to your links) and make an informed decision. I can't speak for others but as for me, I SUCK when it comes to computer skills. for people like you posting links and my 14 year old son who seems to me to be a computer whiz, I'd probably still be lurking.

Heinz Kerry predicted that the Bush campaign would indeed go after her and her family personally, setting off the tripwire that would open up her $700 million pocketbook.

"I'm sure it will get very ugly and personal," she warned. "But I think . . . ugliness speaks for itself, and expensive ugliness speaks for itself even more."

Asked if she was expecting "any particular accusations, any particular vulnerabilities on your part?" Heinz Kerry told NPR, "No."

"No" my yami. There wouldn't be a warning if there wasn't something to warn against. There wouldn't be an "prediction" of an "attack" if there was no expectation of a particular incident/situation worthy of it.

This is reminiscent of Gary Hart inviting reporters to track his movement at night, insisting they would be bored. Of course, we know that Hart was betting that they would take him at his word, and that they wouldn't catch him in on Monkey Business.

I have only posted that I would stop buying Heinz products. what others do is their business.

If you choose not to buy their stuff because you don't like it, or you are suspicious of companies in Pennsylvania, or because you own stock in Del Monte, it's nobody's business.

If you are doing it to harm the Kerry presidential campaign, you might as well be shooting random strangers for fun. The company has nothing to do with Theresa Heinz Kerry.

She has no position with the company. She is not on the Board. She is not a significant shareholder, nor are any of her foundations. The company does not donate to her foundations. The whole idea of "boycott Heinz" is based on the false assumption that doing so will deprive Mrs. Kerry of money. It won't, and it can't. She doesn't get any money from the company. Get it?

>>Can't anybody here play this game? <<

Apparently you aren't able to.

>>No, Heinz does not own TGIFridays. Heinz does not own Boston Market either. <<

Gee, then why do you suppose Heinz lists those two WITH pictures of their logo's on the officiarl Heinz website at:

http://www.heinz.com/jsp/index_default.jsp

??? Are you suggesting Heinz Corp. is lying about their products?

>>And in any case, <<

"And in any case"??? So, you knew what you just said was a lie and thought you could pass it off? OR you just wrote your statements as fact without knowing what the facts are?

>>Theresa Heinz Kerry doesn't have anything to do with Heinz. <<

How would you know? You don't know how to spell her name or even what her Legal name is so how would you know what she has to do with Heinz. FYI she heads the Heinz Endowment Fund which gives millions away every year. Where do you suppose she gets that money from? Maybe...from sales from Heinz products?

>>This is probably the worst thread I have ever seen on Free Republic in terms of people shooting BS into the air without having the slightest idea what they're talking about. <<

As I just demonstrated, that would be you. "But in any case" you don't have to read this thread if it bothers your sensitivities or hurts your feelings.

>>This one ought to come with a warning label: "Half the stuff you'll read on this thread is useless blather posted by people who can't be bothered to check whether what they say is true."<<

Try again, fella. Come back when you've done your homework.

Come back when you've done your homework.

Here's a hint. Don't ever bet I haven't.

First, let's stop off at the Boston Market site, where we find this line:

We also find this:

The same thing is described here, which says,

So now we know why Heinz has Boston Market stuff on their web site. They don't own the company, McDonald's does. They manufacture the frozen food line under license. That's it.

We're not done yet, are we? We still have your claim that Heinz owns TGI Friday's. Once again, a good place to start is on Friday's web site, where we find out that TGI Friday's does have a corporate parent, and it is Carlson Foods, a Dallas-based restaurant company.

Yeah, and you typed this: "their logo's on the officiarl Heinz website." Shall we play Dueling Typos now, or stick to whether you were correct in telling people that Heinz owns these companies?

What you demonstrated is that you went to the Heinz web site, saw a couple of logos, and jumped to the conclusion that Heinz owned the companies. You then told a bunch of Freepers that Heinz owns these companies, when in fact they do not.

Now you have returned to offer us Proof By Louder Assertion. But you still don't have anything that shows Heinz owns the companies. This while the companies themselves say otherwise.

The assertion that the Heinz company in some way funds Mrs. Kerry's endeavors is not mine. I do not need to prove a negative. The people advocating that others boycott this company have an obligation to make sure that they are not encouraging people to do something stupid and maybe even counterproductive. So far they have not offered one shred of evidence that this company has anything to do with her. Instead, someone emailed them and got a reply, from which we learn

Please... enough of sending innocent Freepers off on a stupid wild goose chase in the name of "activism." There's plenty of real stuff that needs to be accomplished. This boycott is absolutely not one of them. Such a boycott hurts perfectly innocent people. It also makes Free Republic look like a den of wild-eyed jerks who shoot first and ask questions later. We do not need that.

I just went food shopping over the weekend and I bought Hunt's ketchup, even though Heinz was on sale. However, I like Ore Ida's toaster hash browns, so unless someone can recommend another brand, I have to buy those!
