The 'Offended' 911 Group “Peaceful Tomorrows” is funded largely by Teresa Heinz

Peaceful Tomorrows is being portrayed as an independent group of relatives of victims of the 911 attacks. They are getting a lot of press claiming to be outraged over the new Bush ads.
Call me insensitive if you like, but I wonder if this outrage could possibly be a tad overblown, and more likely attributable to the millions and millions of dollars this group has received from endowments chaired by Teresa Heinz, wife of Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry.
According to their own contribution page, Peaceful Tomorrows is a project of the Tides Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
According to an article in the Pittsburgh Review, Between 1995 and 2001, $4.3 million of that money came from the Howard Heinz Endowment. In 2002, it and the Vira Heinz Endowment blessed The Tides Center, a San Francisco spin-off of the Tides Foundation, with another $190,000 while the two endowments gave $1.6 million to the new Tides Center for Western Pennsylvania. (The Heinz Endowments have teamed up with a secretive left-wing group)
The money that flows into The Tides also flows out. They have given grants totaling $489,000 to the Iraq Peace Fund, who used that money to fund the anti-war marches and media costs of 27 groups, including MoveOn.org, whose purpose is to defeat George W. Bush.
Other Tides Center projects include The Youth Gender Project, which seeks to "empower and support transgender, gender-variant, intersexed and gender-questioning youth and young adults."
They also shoveled $200,000 towards The Ruckus Society - founded in 1995 to train activists in violent protest against biotechnology, globalization and the World Bank. It incited property destruction in the Seattle riots of 1999 and Washington, D.C., the following year.
Now, if you really want to get mad, you should also know that $8,000,000 in taxpayer money flowed into the Tides Center in the form of federal grants made by eight different agencies between 1997 and 2001.

I wonder how much of their activities they admit to in IRS forms is actually political in nature, or if they try to cover things up.
I think there are websites about non-profits etc. and I could find that if I take the time.

No, dead, you can't be seriously implying that this organization would allow money to color its perceptions, could you? You're not series, are you? This would be a hugh conflict of interest on Peaceful Tomorrows' part! I'm sure Senator Kerry knows nothing about this and would feel bad if it were brought to his attention.../hurling chunks>I'd say no -- but only because "Peaceful Tomorrows" is a leftist group and was undoubtedly so before the Ketchup Lady ever gave them a dime. These people were even against the war in Afghanistan!

I do not get the connection from the "upset 9-11 families" referenced in the news to this peaceful tomorrow organization. Can someone fill me in; I must have missed that thread. Thanks....
Note the WashPost article 3/20/03. At a protest against the Iraq war, several of these same people wore "U.N.-blue peace-sign buttons with the vertical line of the peace symbol rendered as twin towers". And they're complaining about Bush politicizing 9/11?!

Amundson's brother was killed in the PENTAGON. Amundson is trying to make a career out of it. All he and his pals do is FUNDRAISE.
What a disgraceful group! Frankly, I'm having trouble keeping up with all the families' groups that popped up after the attacks -- especially the myriad groups that want to turn all of lower Manhattan into a giant necropolis. To hell with the small businesses and all the residents down here, as far as these people are concerned.
I know that these reprehensible creeps are a distinct minority among the victims' families, but I'd really like to see the majority speak out, both in support of rebuilding the towers and supporting our country vs. islamofascist terrorists.

>> Rush may pick this up since today he was wondering aloud how all these offended widows were ready with identical statements which they gave to every liberal network and newspaper beginning yesterday morning BEFORE the ads were broadcast. <<
Rush talked at length about widows on CNN, PMSNBC, and NBC but he didn't mention FOX once. Last night O'Reilly had Colleen Kelly (the head of Peaceful Tomorrows) and I believe, Barry Amundson on his show. Both of them whined the exact same comments about Bush and his ads as the other widows apparently did. Both Kelly and Amundson said the same thing when O'Reilly asked them about Kerry and Vietnam...that they had no opinion on his using 59,000 dead American Vietnam soldiers to get a leg up in the election. Now we know that Teresa Heinz is paying their bills we can see why they had "no opinion" on Kerry's behavior.
My husband looked at me and said it was amazing how these two parrots sang the exact same tune. He said they obviously had talking points. What I find "funny" is how Rush never mentioned FOX--not even to say he hadn't watched it.

This is a perfect headline for Drudge. Now that Martha has done us all a favor and pushed this BS off the headlines, he should lead with this tomorrow. I sent it to his tip line, if we all do it will get his attention.
And email your local news stations.

Talky Teresa Tides3,000 people were murdered on Bush's watch.
Bush obstructed the 911 commission's inquiry.
Bush had schoolchildren read to him on 911.

I think two members of that org. were on O'Reilly the other night. No mention of Tides or Heinn.

Sorry, I'm missing the connection to the 9/11 windows that raised the fuss about the Bush ad showing WTC scenes. Is there an article or just what was heard on the radio?

This is amazing. The question is when will the media report this. Maybe these family members should hide out in Kenya for a while.
