The House will vote against it and it will be taken out in conference.

oh, then the house will take this out and the senators get their talking points, but I want those 2 repubs who voted for the extension to be punished.

Is it possible that the House will not strip it and will keep it until after November so Bush won't have to sign it until then?

And CFR will be overturned by the USSC.

The House already voted for their version of the bill last year. Their version was clean. The next step is the conference committee.

The House will vote against it and it will be taken out in conference. I called my Congressman 10 years ago. I was amazed that he picked up the phone line! He promised me the exact same thing--it will be taken out in conference.
Forgive me for being cynical this time.

The House will vote against it and it will be taken out in conference. Just like the Supreme Court would take out the unconstitutional parts of CFR?
Better to try to kill the bill now, in the Senate, and leave the House as fallback/backup/tacitical reserve. The House is literally the last line of defense. If the AWB provision gets past the House, the President *will* sign the bill, and the Supreme Court will most likely deny certori on any case challenging it.
Well there is one more line of defense, but it's not pretty.

I've heard that before (and it's no more true now than it has been in the past.
We have until 2:15 to call our Senators and express our opposition to S.1805, the "Assault Weapons" Ban Extension and Gun Show "loophole" Closing Act
This bill can't pass with these amendments. We need to send a strong message now.
Call your Senators now at 1-800-648-3516 and tell them you oppose S.1805.

Since the House and Senate bills differ it will go to a conference committee.
The anti-gunners have fallen into the trap. If the same members who voted FOR the worst amendments now vote FOR the overall bill, then the pro-2A senators can STILL vote against it, the overall bill will pass the Senate and then the crap can be stripped out in committee.
Time to find out who will be on the committee and lobby the crap out of them.

I sure as hell hope so, but this had no business passing the Senate either.
