Anybody got like a like $4.3MM laying around, I want to buy an M1A1 before they run out!

The AWB ban is different. Reps in their districts will be haering from gunowners and those votes ccan sway elections. Say it isn't so! Darn unappeasable gunowners.

Obviously we need the House to kill this, but let's keep things in perspective and not give the gun grabbers a far bigger victory.
Posted in another thread:
Also, there's a whole lot of gun owners who will stay home in November if this thing passes.
And my response:
Brilliant. If you don't get 101% of what you want, just pout, stay home, and allow the party that is trying its best to not only eliminate conceal carry but bankrupt gun manufacturers, ban all guns, and confiscate ASAP to take control of the executive branch (executive orders, federal prosecutors, ATF) and further pollute the judiciary (who'd love to completely reinterprete the RKBA.)
Brilliant strategy, just quit and give the Dems a win so they can get 9 steps closer to turning us into Great Britian. Don't yabber on about both parties being the same, that's copout quitter bullcrap. Sure there are some idiot defections and votes(primary battles and donation withholdings are definitely in order), but by and large the GOP does fight for gun rights. Plus get a clue on perspective. Extension of the AWB is disgusting, but it isn't the end of the world. Worth fighting, but not worth self-destructing and allowing far more onerous restrictions and the political mechanisms for such to get enacted because one decided to throw a temper tantrum. Threatening to destroy what it is they claim to defend just because a few battles were lost. Drama queens ignoring perspective.

Let me guess: lots of hunters in Cajun country and Landrieu cast her vote with an eye on the next election.

"The House won't pass this. No way is Rove that stupid."
Ummmm...Rove encouraged GWB to sign CFR, to propose amnesty to millions of criminal (oops, I mean illegal) aliens, told him to bankrupt Medicare by adding the prescription drug benefit, etc. Rove is that stupid.

The House is more conservative than the Senate. The Senate has quite a few RINOs who are the swing votes between GOP conservatives and the liberal Senate Democrats. That's not the case in the House, where most Republicans are pro-gun Exactly and in House races, politics is much more local.

It has been pointed out that actually, this now goes directly to conference.
The House already passed their clean bill and was waiting on the slow Senate to get in gear.
What we are waiting now is to see what happens in conference.

The bill that comes out of conference can be filibustered.
It can not be amended however, it must be considered as is.
The AWB must be passed or it will sunset. It can not be renewed by filibuster.
At worst the AWB will sunset but the liability protection won't pass.

And this Republican will NOT vote for George Bush! He's toast, as far as I am concerned, if he signs this into law!

Conveniently Forgetting Recent events, Dr. Pangloss? Again people didn't care about CFR, except conservatives. It was a feel good vote and most voters didn't see it as an assault on the 1st amendment. I know you don't like that, but those are the facts.
Now the AWB ban is different. The Pubbies defeated a Schumer sponsored Senate bill back in 99 and in House races gun control is a much bigger issue than CFR ever was.
